Britney Spears’ Lawyer Slams ‘Defamatory’ Report She Is ‘On Meth’

Singer Britney Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, have both spoken out against new reports claiming she was “using meth.”

Now the 41-year-old pop star’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, has stepped in to slam “false and defamatory” reports that the singer is addicted to drugs.

On Sunday, Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart sent a legal letter to the Daily Mail about the “exploitation” of Britney’s two children, Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16, according to Page Six.

On Saturday, June 10, the Daily Mail released a new report sharing a disturbing quote from K-Fed regarding Britney’s alleged drug use. “I’m worried that he’s on drugs — I’ve been praying that someone will go public and that he’ll come to his senses,” Kevin told the publication, adding that their two teenage sons “have seen drugs delivered to his house.”

“The Daily Mail, through Daphne Barak, published a story yesterday that contained numerous false and defamatory fabrications about my client Britney Spears being associated with Kevin Federline and her children, specifically regarding ‘crystal meth,'” Rosengart’s letter read.

“I have learned separately that on several occasions, Ms. Barak attempted to contact Britney under false pretenses, again her young children, which was exploitative, harassing, and outrageous,” Rosengart continued. “Furthermore, Britney’s representatives were never contacted prior to the story’s publication, further demonstrating true malice and a reckless disregard for the truth.”

“Britney is certainly a public figure, but this behavior is out of line and completely unacceptable. It’s bad even by today’s ‘journalistic’ standards and the unfair scrutiny he faces,” the letter concluded.

“I will follow up separately, but for now, please confirm that the Daily Mail will immediately delete and retract the false and defamatory story and conduct an internal investigation into this matter and the abuse of Britney and her children,” they added.

As of Sunday night, the article can still be seen on the Daily Mail website. However, Daphne Barak spoke to Page Six, telling them, “There were 12 days of filming with Federline, his wife, his family, etc. Everything – At his request.”

Barak also mentioned that only a “small percentage” of the interviews “have been released and made headlines,” meaning that it’s possible that new reports will be shared in the coming days.

Although the quote about Britney being “on drugs” reportedly came from her, Kevin Federline spoke to TMZ on Sunday to set the record straight. He claimed that the authors of the report “have decided to fabricate lies and publish the heartache our families have endured, along with the trauma of our young children in the Daily Mail and The Sun.”

Kevin admitted that he “allowed” them in his home “because we trusted them, but that trust was lost and we broke up in March for many reasons we chose not to go here.” Although he said the report was fabricated, he did not specify which information was fabricated.

“It is very sad that he continues to disturb our family when we have repeatedly asked him to leave us alone. As previously published, our family spoke with Ms. Barak and Mr. Gunasti several times, and this was done in a respectful manner with love & compassion for Britney and the Spears family,” Kevin continued. “His lies and attempts to exploit minors are click bait and another disgusting example of where, unfortunately, certain journalism has sunk today.”

Britney Spears Says Allegations Don’t ‘Make Sense’

Hours before her lawyer’s letter was published, Britney took to Instagram to respond to the allegations herself. “The fact that people claim things that aren’t true is very sad… It’s probably not them saying such things because it doesn’t make sense to me for them to say that,” he wrote. He added a line from the article in which his son, Sean Preston, is said to have said, “He needs to hear us before it’s too late.”

Britney then seemed to reach out to her son directly, writing, “Do you remember every time you visit my house, you go into your room and lock the door??? I never saw you guys … Jayden played the piano and we made music together … But the day I told him I wanted to see you again, I never saw you again. It makes me sad because I try so hard to make good things for you and it’s never good enough. So you all go behind my back and talk about me … it breaks my heart and the news is so low … “

“I always feel like the news is bullying me … It’s sad that everyone sits back as if it’s ok to make up a lie to that extent … Why am I being told I have to sit down and stand up??? When they all go so low???” she asked. “Hopefully it’s just hateful news and neither Kevin nor Preston say any of that either I’ll be fine with Throb !!!”

Britney and her husband, actor Sam Asghari, celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary on Friday, June 9, just one day before new reports about her alleged drug use were published.
