Pop star Britney Spears is excited to see her 2001 “Joy of Pepsi” commercial make a comeback at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards!
In 2001, the Princess of Pop did a commercial for Pepsi titled “Joy of Cola” that featured her dancing and singing for the brand. Now, for Pepsi’s 125th anniversary, they’ve released several remastered commercials, including one featuring Britney Spears.

On Thursday, the Pepsi brand took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a video of the pop star singing and dancing for the brand. “Thank you to a true independent icon. We love you, Britney!” they wrote in the caption.
It seems the brand has Britney’s approval, as she released a statement to People magazine ahead of the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, which will be held on September 12.
“Excited to see Pepsi celebrate our ‘Joy Of Cola’ spot as part of its 125th anniversary celebration,” he said in a statement. “This is the iconic music video spot we shot 20 years ago, and [it] still resonates with fans.” He also said that he’s “excited to watch the spot air again during the VMAs next week!”

In addition to Britney’s “Joy of Cola” Pepsi ad, the soft drink brand will also re-release Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” ad from 1989 and Tina Turner’s “We Got The Taste” ad from 1986. There will also be an update release for Ads Robert Palmer’s 1989 “Simply Irresistible” commercial and Ray Charles’ “The Right One Baby” ad first released in 1991.
The ad will now appear in high definition and feature enhanced color and remastered audio, Pepsi said in a statement to the magazine. Fans can watch all the commercials aired during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, which begin airing at 8pm ET.

When most people think of the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, they probably don’t think of Pepsi commercials, especially Britney Spears. Instead, many remember his iconic performance of “I’m A Slave 4 U” which featured him dancing with a large snake.
On Wednesday night, the pop star shared a video of the performance on her social media page. Inside captionhe wrote, “One of my favorite performances was with an albino python … I remember how scared I was when I was handed this snake and went on stage !!! Fans have nothing but love for the pop star and her viral performances. “I’m sure it adds a whole new level of adrenaline to the show for you! You really killed it. Who knew, at the time, how iconic it would be? Look forward to the reading,” commented a fan.
“You are transcendent, Britney. There will never be anyone like you. The VMAs are never the same without you performing in them! When you’re ready, come back and we’ll be here for you,” wrote another follower. Although Britney previously has stated that she doesn’t intend to tour anymore, Madonna is apparently trying to get her on stage in Los Angeles for one of the stops on her Festival tour!
