California teen’s mom sues McDonald’s following attack, says staff ‘did nothing to intervene’

The mother of a 13-year-old girl who was attacked by a woman inside a Southern California McDonald’s is suing the fast-food company and the alleged adult assailant.

The lawsuit, according to FOX 11, is against McDonald’s and Ariana Lauifi for an incident that occurred in September at the Harbor City restaurant.

“I am saddened that my innocent daughter was beaten,” said Kassidy Jones’ mother, Angelina Gray. “McDonald’s staff and managers did nothing to intervene. They all stood and watched.”

Kassidy Jones previously said that she and her classmates stopped at the fast food restaurant on their way home from school on September 6.

The 13-year-old said that’s when an unknown woman cornered her and started assaulting her.

“What do you see F? I fight children. I’m against you,” Kassidy recalled the woman telling her.

Video of the fight went viral on social media and showed Kassidy being dragged to the floor, punched and her hair pulled.

People can be heard screaming and seen recording the incident on their phones.

The only person seen coming to Kassidy’s aid was a man who was reported to be with the suspect.

Kassidy’s mother called the police and took her daughter to the hospital.

Pictures after the incident show him swollen and bruised.

Kassidy said he did not know the suspect who was later identified as Lauifi, 31 years old.

According to FOX 11, Lauifi was arrested on September 28 on suspicion of felony child abuse.

“We are horrified to learn of this vicious attack, and our thoughts go out to Kassidy and his family. Employees called the police when the fight started, and we are working closely with local law enforcement to assist in their investigation.”

McDonald’s location owner/operator Tawnie Blade said in a statement to Fox News Digital shortly after the attack occurred.

The family’s attorney, on the other hand, told FOX 11 not enough is being done.

“McDonald’s has an obligation to provide a clean and safe place for its customers to dine. Kassidy’s injuries were preventable, and she should have been given some form of help after the attack. This situation should never have happened,” said Toni Jaramilla.
