It takes a village to manage a rock and roll band- even a fictional one!
The Amazon Prime series adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s 2019 novel “Daisy Jones and the Six” premiered last week to rave reviews!
The actors have been in the midst of a promotional press tour sharing the magic of their seventies-tinged bond fostered by bringing Jenkins Reid’s brainchild to life.
Camila Morrone, who plays the strong backbone of Billy’s band vocalist Camilla Dunne, commemorated the miracle in her latest Instagram post. Morrone’s photo shows a ‘Daisy’ circle making a human pyramid, showcasing the incredibly close bond the actors created during filming.
Filming may have ended long ago and fans can now watch six episodes of the series, but the group’s friendship is stronger than ever!
‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ Onscreen Friendship Strengthened By Bandcamp Ties
The cast members of “Daisy Jones & The Six” have been quite vocal about their experience of being a reliable band. Their practice and the resulting chemistry clearly paid off: the companion soundtrack album, “Aurora,” hit number one on iTunes shortly after its release!
Riley Keough (Daisy) and Sam Claflin (Billy) may play the two members of the group who take center stage, but both have a long way to go before they can capture the stage presence they need!
Speaking to NME each of The Blast’s coverage of the show, Keough recalled with a laugh, “After they hired me, I remember [the producers] said, “Well, Riley still has a long way to go, so whoever we hire [as her partner] must be a great singer to balance it.”
Claflin said of the experience, “We just laughed our way through it. We had singing lessons together quite early on, and at that point, I developed impostor syndrome. I thought, ‘I shouldn’t be here, this is scary. I’m so nervous,’ and then Riley walks in and they immediately have us staring at each other to try and find that romantic connection.”
Keough echoes his on-screen partner’s sentiments with gusto; she added, “It didn’t take much for me to turn away laughing, but then we sang, and I thought, ‘Oh yay, we’re both terrible!”
Keough And Claflin Aren’t The Only ‘Daisy’ Cast Members Who Have A Laughable Friendship!
The camaraderie in the cast also translates to the show’s two leading ladies!
Morrone and Suki Waterhouse, who played the band’s keyboard player Karen, were also cast alongside each other. Besties were also told to tone down their camaraderie during filming!
Recently speaking to Town & Country, the two expressed their friendship. The key ingredient to what makes the duo tick? Tea, and more!
Waterhouse, 31, described their friendship dynamic as “[It’s] is always so much fun, even when we’re sitting in the background, and there’s other stuff going on, and Karen and Camilla are gossiping, and we know it’s not going to be in the show.”
He also later added, “Yeah, we definitely have that natural camaraderie. Our camaraderie is growing [quickly]- when you meet someone and start working with them and spend 12 hours a day together for two years, you know everything about each other’s lives and start dissecting everything that flows into the show.”
The level of intimacy that Waterhouse portrays is definitely captured in actress Morrone’s latest Instagram photo!
The cast smiled as they posed in a human pyramid together, and Morrone summed up their bond in the photo’s caption.
“There is no one else I would rather have this experience with,” he wrote. “As we head into the 2nd weekend of the launch, I can’t help but shout out these crazy talented humans that I get to act with and everyone behind the scenes that it takes to bring this scale together. Behind the scenes, to get what you see on screen, is a crew of a hundred that really makes this happen,” he continued, “our lighting crew, cinematographers, costume designers, hair, makeup, set design, production design, photography unit, sound unit, manager, music instructor, writer, producer, presenter, etc. It is a labor of love. We all have a small piece of this pie and we have a lot to be proud of,” Morrone concluded.
Morrone should be proud of his skills; she read “Daisy Jones and the Six” with only days left to prepare for her role in the series!
Instead of using SparkNotes, he found himself reading books and falling asleep because of the characters!
“I don’t show up for a broadcast until I finish everything,” she recently told Nylon Magazine. (per The Blast)
Episodes one through six of “Daisy Jones & The Six” are now streaming on Amazon Prime!
