The statement emphasized that those close to Mitchell knew him as many things, including “a hope seeker, a dreamer, a dreamer, a soccer player, a beach walker, a bear hugger, and a landscape designer.”

He is also a “gardener, canoeist, happy camper, nature explorer, cat lover, contagious laugher, gift giver, note sender, movie goer, art maker, music listener and sportsman,” among other things. But more than anything else, the late actor was a proud father of two children. The statement continued:

“Ken is the keeper of countless friendships. Like a massive star exploding with goodness, purity, and a certain brand of stupidity, you’ve been drawn right into its orbit. Once captured, Ken can shower you with positivity, thoughtfulness and fun and make you feel so loved.”

The obituary heaped praise on Mitchell, describing him as a “giver, listener, sentimentalist, and excellent observer of his surroundings.” As a friend, the 49-year-old is said to “love to see others shine” and is great at connecting with friends.

Turning to the cause of his death, the obituary emphasized that Mitchell did not allow his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) to prevent him from living life to the fullest. Even with the disability that followed, he was still a great man and father. The statement reads:

“For five and a half years, Ken faced a series of horrific challenges from ALS. And in true Ken fashion, he overcomes each one with grace and a commitment to living a life full and happy in every moment. He lived by the principle that every day is a gift and we never walk alone.”

“His life is a shining example of how full a person can be when you live with love, compassion, humor, inclusion and community. Ken was a work of art who inspired all the hearts he touched,” the notice continued, adding that Mitchell was grateful for the outpouring of love and support amid his circumstances.

The late actor is survived by his wife Susan, their children Lilah and Kallum, his parents Diane and David, brother Sean (Norah), other relatives, and his adorable cats Chai and Cinna.
