A car plowed into an SUV parked protecting President Biden’s motorcade Sunday night as the commander-in-chief left his campaign headquarters in Delaware.
Biden was walking from the campaign office to his armored SUV when a silver sedan crashed into a US Secret Service vehicle used to close off an intersection near the headquarters for Biden’s departure.

The sedan, which had bumper damage, then attempted to drive into a closed intersection before Secret Service agents surrounded the vehicle with guns drawn and forced the driver to surrender.
Biden was ushered into his car, where his wife, first lady Jill Biden, was already waiting before they were whisked away.
The 81-year-old Democrat and his wife survived.
It was unclear Sunday night whether the driver, whose car had Delaware plates, acted intentionally or whether his actions were politically motivated.

Prior to the incident, Jill Biden first entered the vehicle after leaving the campaign office in downtown Wilmington around 8:07 p.m.
Then the president walked out of campaign headquarters, and moments after he answered questions shouted from the press, a loud bang rang out, which seemed to startle Biden, according to reports from the White House press group.
Biden and his wife visited campaign headquarters Sunday night where they ate pasta with tomato sauce with members of his campaign team.

The incident was not the first incident involving Biden’s motoring.
In 2020, then-President-elect Biden’s motorcade collided with another car in Wilmington, Delaware.
The trooper and a 77-year-old woman ended up with minor injuries, according to state police.

In 2015, an NYPD motorcycle cop on then-Vice President Biden’s detail was injured when he crashed his bike while escorting the vice president to the airport.
The highway patrol officer was riding his motorcycle across the Triborough Bridge around 2:15pm on September 11, 2015 when he spun out of control.
Biden — who had been in town for an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and a 9/11 ceremony — was told about the crash aboard Air Force Two.
