Carjacking suspect trapped in porta-potty by golfer following police chase: ‘I got s–t on me, bro’

A Wisconsin carjacking suspect found himself in dire straits last week when a quick-thinking bystander stumbled upon the toilet where he was hiding, trapping him inside until police arrived.

The suspect is one of four people wanted in connection with a stolen vehicle and hit-and-run accident on Interstate 43 last Wednesday, according to local reports.

The wild police chase began when an officer spotted a Dodge Durango that had been reported stolen from Plymouth Minnesota, on Port Washington Road around 11:40 a.m., Glendale police said, according to local station TMJ4.

When police approached the SUV, the driver sped off, police said.

Another officer further down the road placed a tire deflator on the road that the Durango swerved into the opposite lane to avoid, hitting a car head-on, according to footage published by a local NBC affiliate station.

The Durango bounced off another car – which hit a third vehicle – and sped through a grassy median before hitting a traffic barrier on the shoulder of I-43, the clip shows.

The doors of the stolen SUV then flew open, as four people ran across multiple lanes of traffic, scattering in different directions, according to the video.

One of the suspects was intercepted by police officers at the scene while the other two ran west to nearby Lincoln Park Golf Course, the station reported.

One of the couple on the golf course ran into the woods next to his grassy lawn, while the other stopped to see a bright orange toilet, according to the store.

Two golfers watched the incident unfold with a police cruiser not far behind.

Ilissa Boland and Adam Westermayer told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel they saw a suspect walk into a johnny-on-the-spot and a police vehicle drive by.

“We looked at each other like, ‘Are you serious? That’s where he’s going to hide?’” Boland, a realtor in the area, told the paper.

Westermayer approached the porta-john but found the door locked.

He then decided to flip it so that the door was facing the ground, effectively trapping the suspect inside.

“Good luck,” he said after pushing the toilet and walking away, the newspaper reported.

He told TMJ4 he hopes to buy police some time with the move.

“When we realized they were being chased and the child was in the porta-toilet, we tried to tell the police officers,” he told the station.

“He went to chase the others and I just made a rash decision to push the porta-toilet down.”

Westermayer added that he felt it was his duty to assist officers in the pursuit.

“No idea. I just knew the right thing to do and I did it,” he said.

Boland saw the trap and wild capture unfold and recorded it on his phone.

“Adam turned it over and [we] heard the sound of sloshing from the porta-potty,” he told the station.

“It’s really a bad situation.”

Bodycam footage later released by Glendale police and obtained by the Journal Sentinel shows what happened next.

The suspect yelled “Let me out” as three police surrounded the porta-john with their guns drawn, the footage shows.

One of the officers overturned a porta-potty when liquid splattered and the suspect screamed.

“Crawl out, man,” an officer ordered him.

“Don’t do stupid things.”

“Bro, I got s–t on me, bro,” he said as he crawled out and threw his hands in the air.

The police yell at the suspect to get on the ground and he complies before the clip ends.

He was arrested along with his accomplices who were arrested on the side of the interstate.

Two other suspects are still at large, according to the Journal Sentinel.

The drivers of the two vehicles involved in the crash with the stolen Durango were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, TMJ4 reports.
