Jepsen, 37, followed a marathon year in which he also released the single “Western Wind” and performed extensively live.
A decade after the release of “Call Me Maybe” Jepsen got serious about what it meant to be introspective with himself. The Blast takes a look at everything behind Jepsen’s latest LP.
Before we look at CRJ’s ‘Shy Boy’, let’s take a look back at how Jepsen received and processed great feelings during an unprecedented period in history: the global COVID-19 pandemic.

After millions of listeners likely branded Jepsen a one-hit wonder with 2012’s “Call Me Maybe,” Jepsen has released several cult classic albums including “Emotion” and “Dedicated.”
Jepsen’s next album will coincide with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020. He will begin creating “The Loneliest Time” during a period when many of us are collectively thinking about spending endless time alone. For Jepsen, the focus of living ‘The Loneliest Time’ means accepting well being someone who feels every emotion differently.

He discussed the concept with The Cut when the album was released.
“It’s a lifelong question I’ve had with myself about my relationship with solitude,” Jepsen told The Blast publication, “The idea that you have to be alone with yourself – like, ‘Go alone and be happy’ – that’s b*lls* *t to me. You become so happy when you know you have a relationship out there,” she said.
Jepsen would go on to state “Loneliness is a thing similar to love. It is felt everywhere by everyone at different times in their lives.”
Looking for Jepsen’s New Single ‘Shy Boy’
Jepsen took a break from exploring the complicated concept of silence to reduce the party feeling! “Shy Boy” exudes a ‘summer song’ vibe and is heavy on the fun, flirty vibe. He will also dive into the song “Beach House” from “The Loneliest Time.”
Jepsen will also turn on the festive atmosphere as he prepares to release “Shy Boy.”
On Friday, the “Surrender My Heart” singer will share a reel on Instagram depicting her special performance at the Glastonbury festival; he will officially debut “Shy Boy” for the audience!
Jepsen’s reel shows every step of his preparation for Glastonbury, chaotic airport bits and all!
He will give his followers more insight into the experience in his captions. The “Talking To Yourself” singer wrote, “Long journey to debut SHY BOY at dream festival- @glastofest! Steamed my clothes, packed my clothes, left my boy wa quiche and kisses and went to the UK. Train, plane and cars are good books and even better company.”
“Make time for important things like training and dessert! Feeling a bit surprised by the time change, I landed on stage to my surprise to see about 85,000 people there to greet us! I was happy to be invited and would do it again in a heartbeat! What a happy release day. Thank you for making it so special,” concluded Jepsen.
BBC Music has just released Jepsen’s performance from Glastonbury! “Shy Boy” is also available to stream!
