At the recent LA premiere of Tim Burton’s new series “Wednesday,” Zeta-Jones and her son, Dylan, spoke with Additional about the new film and Douglas, who was absent. Zeta-Jones and Douglas will soon celebrate their 22nd anniversary, and the actress reflected on their years of marriage.

When asked what she’s learned about marriage and love over the years, Zeta-Jones said, “I know I thank my lucky stars every day that I chose the right man.” She praised Douglas again, saying, “I lucked out big time. He’s a great husband. He’s a great dad.”

He said, “I think the first one [Burton film] my mom showed me ‘Edward Scissorhands,’ and it’s a great movie. I’ve seen so much of Tim Burton’s work and I love it, and for him to do his first tv show… ‘The Addams Family,’ for him to ‘Burton-fy’ it’s very exciting.”

Dylan also shared his excitement about having Zeta-Jones play the role of Morticia and said that he was “excited to be here” and that everything was “pretty cool!” Zeta-Jones smiled brightly when her son spoke and said, “I was cold for two minutes.” She also spoke about her character Morticia, calling her an “iconic woman” and a “matriarch.”

Zeta-Jones said, “She is a pop culture icon for me. I just want to radiate it, not try and be someone else’s interpretation. This particular version of the world is very rooted in modern day reality, which makes it very cool and funny. Also, strangely enough, very close to the original.

Zeta-Jones continued, “I wish I had this opportunity to do more with him. He is a genius. I have been doing this for a very long time, and now I can sit back and enjoy. It’s not really about watching myself… Enjoying other people’s work and seeing scenes that I read in the script, but I’m never there when they’re shooting, and seeing anything that Tim does is really cool.”

Zeta-Jones was recently at D23 for the official trailer launch for the Disney+ series “National Treasure: Edge of History” and spoke with Additional about his experience working on the series. He said, “I’m having a really good time about this.” The “Chicago” actress also shared her experience playing Morticia in “Wednesday” with Jenna Ortega.

Zeta-Jones said, “It’s been one of those great, cohesive years. Doing ‘National Treasure’ and then before that I worked with Tim Burton, which was a dream come true to play such an iconic character… It was really- It’s really cool to step into that black Morticia robe.”
