Legendary singer Tony Bennett has died at the age of 96.

As of this writing, no specific cause of death has been disclosed. Bennett was widely publicized by his Alzheimer’s Disease diagnosis; the diagnosis, which he had been battling for five years at the point of his announcement, did not prevent him from performing live or making any public appearances.

The “Love For Sale” singer’s departure was confirmed by her publicist Sylvia Weiner. Weiner told The Associated Press that Bennett died at his home in New York.

Several Celebrities Pay Tribute To Tony Bennett After His Death At 96

Bennett’s death was confirmed in a post on his Instagram account.

The post read, “Tony left us today but he was still singing the other day at his piano and his last song was, ‘Because of You,’ his first number one hit. Tony, because of you we keep your songs in our hearts forever,” the post concluded.

Singer Haley Reinhardt commented, “So honored to be able to do a duet with Tony. His legacy will surely live on, but he will be greatly missed! They don’t make them like him anymore.”

Carrie Underwood posted an Instagram carousel of photos taken with Bennett over the years. The “Some Hearts” singer wrote in the caption, “Rest in peace, Tony. You are the epitome of a gentleman with an amazing voice that God gave you. It has truly been the greatest honor of my career and my life to be able to share the stage with you… ” Will Smith also paid tribute to Bennett with a photo of the two of them together, along with his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. The “I-Robot” actor wrote, “Your life’s work is amazing, Tony. Thank you for sharing your gift. !”

Actor Alec Baldwin took to his Instagram to share his thoughts on Bennett’s passing.

“Everybody loves Tony,” Baldwin said in part. “To have that talent, to have that strata of style… not to mention a name,” he continued with a smile, “that not everybody loves, in some cases far from it. But everybody loves Tony, everybody loves Tony. He’s a helluva man…”

The “Rust” actor also detailed how important Bennett’s music is to him.

“When I’m really sad and I need to hear someone sing… I need to hear something beautiful, you know. I just put on that ‘Carnage Hall’ album… that’s him younger. Or I’ll play ‘Unplugged’ a few years later, and watch the movie ‘Zen Of Bennett,’ a documentary about Tony, a great movie [and] a great insight into him as an artist. And how hard he worked, and how polite he was as a human being. I’ll think of other things I might say, but I’ll think about it… But in the meantime, my heart goes out to Susan, to all of Tony’s children, and especially to Danny. who was his great partner and a man who really… had a big hand in bringing Tony to that amazing level for the second time…”

President Barack Obama posted a photo of the two of them with their wives.

“Tony Bennett is an iconic songwriter and performer who captivated generations of fans. He’s also a good person- Michelle and I will always be honored that he performed at my inauguration. We are thinking of his wife, Susan, his children, and all who miss him today,” Obama wrote.
