“Step Up” star Channing Tatum recently revisited his relationship with Jenna Dewan after almost five years. The actress revealed that it was “very scary” and “terrifying” at the time to split from Dewan after a decade of marriage.
Tatum also stated that their divorce took place after a long time against the fact that they had “broken up” and were no longer together. Becoming a parent also made the actress and her ex-boyfriend realize how different they are.
Although they felt it was the right thing to do, the divorce made the “Magic Mike” star sad. However, Tatum said he channeled all his energy into their daughter, Everly, with whom he is now best friends.

In an interview with Vanity Fairthe 42-year-old admitted that they were “fighting for [the marriage] for a very long time,” even though they “knew that we were broken up.” Tatum and Dewan met on the set of “Step Up” in 2006, married three years later in 2009, and welcomed their first child, Everly, in 2013 .
However, the two announced their separation in 2018 and officially divorced in 2019. In response to why they stayed together for so long, Tatum revealed that they stuck to their vows since they were young.
“I think we tell ourselves stories when we’re young, and we keep telling ourselves those stories, no matter how blatantly life tells us that we’re so different.”
Tatum also stated that raising their now four-year-old daughter made them realize how different they really are. He said per E! News, “Because it screams at you all day. How you parent differently, how you see the world, how you go through the world.”

The “Dog” actor revealed that it was not easy to deal with the breakup because he was not used to it. Tatum described the first few months after the breakup as “very scary” and “terrible.” It was very difficult because the star had planned a lot for the family of three before the split. “The whole plan you had really turned to sand …and you’re like, ‘Oh, shit. What now?'”
However, things eventually took a turn for the better when the actress realized that the divorce “may have been exactly what I needed.” It also encouraged him to “do work on myself to really try to figure out what’s next.” Although Tatum wanted to do other things, the “No Child” actor decided to focus on his daughter.

The “World of Dance” alum talked about being “in shock” and feeling different emotions. “One week I’ll be doing really well and the next I’m bombarded with new emotions.” Dewan also recalled not knowing what to do next because he was not used to the breakup. “There were many times I hid under the covers, wondering what was next.”
The feeling slowly turned into pain that was harder to deal with. She wrote, “I was completely overcome with fear and sadness. It took many moments of sitting alone with my sadness to force me to surrender to the roller coaster of my situation.”

Although both Tatum and Dewan have moved on romantically since their split, the “Side Effects” actor has stated that he will never get married again. The star, who split from singer Jessie J in 2020 after two years together, is currently on another romantic journey with actress Zoë Kravitz.
Although they look good together, Tatum said, “I don’t know if I’ll ever get married again.” However, Dewan, on the other hand, will soon walk down the aisle with his sweetheart Kazee who he started seeing in 2018. The two got engaged in February 2020 and welcomed their son Callum a month later.
