Chelsea Handler is done talking about her first relationship. The comedian was in a romantic relationship with fellow comic Jo Koy from August 2021 to July 2022. He shared that talking about his ex would give the press something to make headlines about.
Handler hasn’t found a new boyfriend since breaking up with Koy and is enjoying her single life and building a closer bond with herself.
She previously stated that her breakup with Koy stemmed from her unwillingness to “let go” and “change” certain aspects of herself.

‘I’m Here To Talk About Everything Else’
During his appearance on a recent episode Call Her Dad podcast, Handler told host Alex Cooper that she stopped talking about her breakup with Koy because she felt it was stale news and didn’t want to tell the press something to run on.
“Well, I don’t want to comment any further on it because it’s making headlines,” Chelsea said of the split, per E! News.
The comedian also said he would focus on discussing other personal endeavors rather than stirring up dust about his previous relationships.
He added, “And I haven’t promoted a breakup for the past six months. I’m here to talk about all the other things I do. And I understand people are interested, but it’s like running out of gas.”
Handler and Koy were first linked in August 2021 before making their relationship Instagram official in September of the same year. They made several public appearances at the event before splitting in July 2022

Since breaking up with Koy, Handler has yet to find a new man and is enjoying the single life and building a more intimate relationship with herself.
“I’ve actually taken the time to see what’s going on with myself, haven’t I? And I really, really enjoyed getting to know me,” explained the actress, sharing what she had been up to.
Handler advises those exiting relationships to do a lot of self-introspection “so they can come out in a really good way” for their next relationship.”
He also noted that knowing when to take a “time out” is necessary, adding that “a lot of people don’t seem to know that it’s time to take a break.”

Regarding her breakup with Koy, Handler previously revealed several reasons during the December episode of Brooke Shields How now? podcasts.
He said at the time, “There’s some behavior that we can’t agree on, and I feel like I have to leave myself—which maybe I could do if I was 20 or 25—but I’m not willing to do that.”
Doubling down on her point, Handler shared that her reluctance to “let go” and “change” some things about herself superseded her love for Koy.
Even though the breakup was done with the best of intentions for her, that doesn’t mean it came easily.
She added, “I had to leave something that I truly believed would be a forever relationship, and that was hard.”

Handler and Koy seem to remain on good terms despite their split. “This is not the end. It’s another beginning, and it’s a comfort to know that I still love and love this man like the sun loves the moon and the moon loves the sun,” she said in an Instagram video to announce their split.

In a separate post, Koy confirmed that they are still involved in each other’s lives and wished her the best in her future endeavors.
“Just wanted everyone to know that me and Chelsea will always remain great friends and will always love each other,” she wrote. “I’m his biggest fan, and I can’t wait for you all to see what he has in store for the future. Keep killing it, Chelsea! Dear us!”
