Cher has filed for conservatorship of son Elijah Blue Allman, claiming he can’t take care of himself due to a massive drug addiction.
The development comes after rumors swirled that he had kidnapped his son in an attempt to save him because of his history of substance abuse.
According to a legal document obtained by ExplosionCher filed to be the sole conservator of her son’s estate, claiming that a conservator of the estate was needed because Elijah was “largely unable to manage his own financial resources.”

Cher took serious steps to control her son Elijah’s estate, claiming the 47-year-old was unable to manage it.
The legal document reads that “[Cher] unable to discuss Elijah’s preferences regarding the appointment of a temporary conservator because given Elijah’s current mental and physical health issues, discussed in detail in the Confidential Supplemental Information filed concurrently, he is unable to form or express preferences regarding the appointment of a conservator for his estate.”
The singer’s lawsuit states that she was worried Elijah would spend her money on drugs because of her ongoing mental health and substance abuse problems.
The document reads, “[Cher] worried that any funds distributed to Elijah would be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to support himself and endangering Elijah’s life.”
Elijah himself is in the middle of a divorce from his estranged wife, Marieangela King, who previously accused Cher of kidnapping his son as they tried to reunite to repair their marriage.
King also accused Cher of “interfering” in the management of his son’s health and preventing him from accessing his properties.

In the “Believe” singer’s legal filing, he claims that his son and his wife have been estranged and that their tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”
The document reads, “[Cher] was informed and believed that Angela was not supportive of Elijah’s recovery and that Angela was actively working to keep Elijah from getting clean and sober or receiving the mental health treatment he desperately needed. Latest, [Cher] was informed and believed that Angela took steps to check Elijah out of the treatment center where he was receiving much needed medical care.”
The “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” star stated that due to the couple’s ongoing divorce proceedings, “Angela is not entitled to be appointed conservator of Elijah’s estate unless the court finds, by clear and convincing evidence, that [an] appointment is for Elijah’s sake.”
Cher claims that King’s appointment as conservator would be “unsafe” and detrimental to Elia and her estate.
“It is not safe for Elia and his inheritance because [Cher] informed and believed that the appointment of Angela as conservator of Elijah’s estate would result in the immediate loss or disappearance of Elijah’s assets for self-destructive purposes.”

While chatting with People magazine, Cher shut down allegations about her kidnapping her son, saying it was “not true.” She then talks about her worries as a mother and why she will do everything she can to help Elijah.
“I haven’t had any problems that millions of people in the United States haven’t,” Cher told the news outlet about her son’s struggle with substance abuse.
The singer continued, “I’m a mother. It’s my job — one way or another, to try to help my kids. You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do because that’s what being a mother is all about. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think about your kids, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them.”
Cher had Elijah during her relationship with singer Gregg Allman and her first child Chaz Bono, 54, from her marriage to Sonny Bono.
