Amid the ongoing court battle between Cher and her son Elijah, the iconic musician filed a status update on March Wednesday, emphasizing why her son needs a conservatorship.

In the legal document, Cher stated that “a conservator [Elijah’s] inheritance is appropriate and the least restrictive alternative because Elijah takes care of his property properly.”

He claimed Elijah had a “steady pattern” of being unable to manage his own financial resources or resist fraud or undue influence.”

According to legal documents, for the past three years, Elijah has spent money received from his trust on “medicines, expensive hotels and other non-essential items” leaving him with “no assets” to provide for himself.

Cher further claimed that her son has no savings despite receiving over a million dollars in distributions from his trust since the death of his father, Greg Allman in 2016.

The legal document states: “[Cher] informed and believed that despite receiving more than $1,000,000 in distributions from the trust since his father’s death in 2017, Elijah had no savings. [Cher] informed and believed that Elijah’s untreated mental illness and addictions exacerbated his inability to manage his finances because when he was psychotic or using illicit substances, he lacked the ability to make decisions, let alone rational decisions, about his finances.”

As we previously reported, the singer has been overruled by a judge twice in the midst of her attempts to place Elijah under a conservatorship.

On January 5, Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui of the LA Superior Court stated that Cher’s attorney did not provide Elijah and his attorney with the necessary paperwork to give them enough time to present their case.

Elijah previously filed ex-parte, stating that his mother failed to give him and his team enough time to prepare for the conservatorship’s first hearing. Because of this, Judge Uzcategui denied his request for immediate conservatorship and postponed the hearing to January 29.

On the second day of the hearing, Judge Uzcategui rejected Cher’s request for the second time, saying, “I don’t question the motivation behind Cher wanting [help] his son… however, I do not see sufficient evidence.”

At the time, Elijah’s attorney shared a statement saying that he was “thrilled that the court saw that he did not need the services of a temporary conservator.” They also said that he is open to mediation with his mother, Cher.

In one of Elijah’s many court filings, he stated that he understood his mother’s concern for him but stated that he did not need her support.

Elijah, who is also a singer, claimed at the time that he had been “clean and sober for over 90 days now and [is] fully capable and committed to managing money [he] receive quarterly from a trust left by [his] late father.”

He added, “While I understand that my mother, the proposed conservator, believes she has my best interests at heart, and I appreciate her love and support, I do not need her unsolicited help or support at this time.”

In the middle of his fight with his mother, Elijah recently got divorce papers. He previously filed to legally end his marriage to Marieangela King, but the couple recently reconciled and have since united against Elijah’s mother, Cher.
