Cheryl Burke may not be dancing with the stars anymore, but she will be dancing with her dog for a very long time!
The pro dancer, whose divorce from ex-husband Matthew Lawrence was finalized around September last year, had to wait more time in court to settle one last matter – the ownership of their pet dog. Saddened, she was ready to fight for her baby until the actress suddenly changed her mind by choosing to drop the case.

After months of worrying about whether she would be able to keep her dog, the star can finally breathe a sigh of relief as it looks like she will officially be the dog’s mother, given that she has been awarded all ownership rights.

Her estranged husband decided to choose reconciliation and let it all go, ending a long and drawn-out battle that would cause more stress on both of them. According to documents obtained by TMZ, the “Dancing With The Stars” alum and the 42-year-old have reached an agreement on who will be Ysabella’s primary guardian.
Lawrence agreed to hand over all documents and data in her possession related to the French bulldog, including the title of “pet parent” for the Home Again service they once shared. This means the trial originally scheduled to take place has been cancelled, with all findings withdrawn.
Burke also took to his Instagram page to celebrate the win with a three-slide post. He can be seen walking Ysabella along the banks of the river, and they stop to enjoy the beauty of nature at one of the slides. The post was captioned:
“Officially FULL-TIME dog moms… 2023, we’re off to a great start!”
The closeness between himself and the dog is undeniable, as before, he took to his Instagram page to share pictures from a Christmas photo shoot. A post with the caption, “Merry Christmas from my girl Ysa & me. Sending you all so much love this holiday! ❤️ #dogmom,” accompanied by an image of the two posing on a soft white carpet for the camera.
The following slide shows the couple lying peacefully next to each other, while the next slide sees Ysa wrapped in a golden ribbon. Fans loved the photo, writing, “Merry Christmas ? beautiful sunshine and your puppy ysa. Good luck, and have a great weekend. God bless ?”
Another user said, “Puppy love can actually be the deepest love. Ever!” One follower stated, “I see you are now Ysa’s emotional support person.”
The author seems very calm next to his pet which explains why he initially stated that he was very hurt about the possibility of a trial. The Blast shared that Burke is reportedly on the fence about the fact that he might give up the Frenchie.

During her iHeart podcast “Burke in the Game,” the 38-year-old declared herself a dog mom and that Ysabella is her daughter she won’t give up without a fight. While recalling how she found out about her divorce, she said:
“It’s not over yet because we might have to go to trial — well, we’ll go to trial, unless [Lawrence] suddenly turn it off. That will happen in January. I am still very hurt by this situation.”
The podcaster emotionally stated that he couldn’t imagine life without her, adding, “I can only cry right now.”

The former couple were married for three years before filing for divorce in 2021, and it looks like Lawrence has already moved on with a new sweetheart – TLC’s Chilli. So it looks like he may have thrown some shade at the “Boy Meets World” star based on what he posted on his Instagram story. The Blast noted that the pro dancer wrote the words “That was fast…” on a black screen while the song, “Boy’s a liar” by Pink Pantheress played.
Burke created the post just hours after the singer’s representative, Christal Jordan, confirmed the relationship. In fact, rumors have started circulating about a new lover towards the end of 2022 before being confirmed in the first week of January.
