Cheryl Burke Honors Her Late Father On His 73rd Birthday.
It’s been three years since the passing of Cheryl Burke’s father, Stephen Louis Burke, and the reality star continues to hold his memories close to her heart. The patriarch, who left earth almost a month shy of his 68th birthday, is being celebrated by his doting daughter on her 73rd birthday.
Cheryl Burke Sends Sweet Message To Her Father
The bond between a father and son, especially a daughter, cannot be overemphasized. So it was unexpected to see how much the “Dance Moms” star’s father appreciated his recent social media posts to his thousands of followers.
She shared a photo of her father’s memories with a short note saying how much she misses him. A thoughtful Instagram post dedicated to his father’s posthumous birthday shows the 38-year-old in babyhood with his handsome father.

Young Cheryl smiled as she sat on her father’s lap in a white ballerina-like dress with matching shoes and a fringe cut hairstyle. He looked comfortable with his father, who wrapped his arm around his waist. Stephen, also smiling in the photo, was dressed in all black with a mini afro hairstyle.
A mini note was attached, and the daughter expressed her confidence to never stop celebrating her father. He wrote, “Whether or not they celebrate birthdays in heaven, I celebrate you today on your special day. Most of you, dad?.”
This incredible memory comes more than three years after the “Dancing with the Stars” pro first publicly shared the news of his father’s death. PEOPLE reports that years before the dancer lost her father, she reminisced about their estranged relationship on Bethenny Frankel’s talk show, revealing that the two reconnected after she was in a terrible accident.
When he died, she announced she was leaving the internet to mourn her father in person. Cheryl shared a throwback photo of herself as a child getting a kiss on the head from her dad on her different social media accounts.
In the caption, she wrote about doing things differently if she saw him again. “Dad, if I had another chance to bring you here with me today, I would have done things differently. Every day I will tell you how much I love you. I already miss you so much.”

Knowing that Cheryl and her father have not been on the best terms throughout her life brings us back to last year when she opened up about her early years and how she grew up in a rough environment.
She revealed on the “Allison Interviews” podcast that love has different definitions and antagonists in her household. Additionally, childhood trauma affects her romantic relationships as she unconsciously falls prey to the same type of men who are “abusive, unavailable, uncommitted,” and unfaithful. Cheryl then said:
“My definition of love is not true. To me, love equals infidelity, love equals being treated like shit, love equals physical violence, love equals mental abuse.”
For her, the unhealthy environment as a child affected her relationship with any “good guy”, as she would snap without understanding why she felt so disgusted. He insists that his reaction is because he never had that kind of kindness growing up.
But as she grew older, the former “DWTS” star said she reached a point of liberation from her toxic behavior as she forced herself to understand the reasons behind her attachment to such men, who attributed “no father figure” in her life and were attacked sexually at a younger age by “an older letter pensioner.”
However, the “I Can Do That” star stated that she has been trying to be intentional since her divorce from her ex-husband, Matthew Lawrence. He confessed, “If I don’t retrain my brain, I will be attracted to the same people. I’m going to marry someone who resembles that person before, and it’s just going to be a vicious circle.”
