Chicago cop loses job, charged with falsely claiming she was robbed of $5K by armed suspects

A Chicago police officer lost his job after he was caught falsely reporting being held at gunpoint and robbed of thousands of dollars.

Officer Zondranika Williams, 37, was charged with criminal disorderly conduct and false report of a crime at a court hearing Thursday, two days after she was fired from her job with the Chicago Police Department, CBS News Chicago reported.

Williams called 911 on Sept. 23 to report that she had been robbed of $5,000 in cash in an alley by her garage in the 8000 block of South Wabash Avenue. He told the operator he was a police officer but was off duty at the time, prosecutors said.

The eight-year veteran of the department provided detailed reports of the crime several times and also provided police with a description of the suspect.

He claimed the suspect was armed and yelled “Give me everything you got!” while holding a gun pointed at him, according to local stations.

But it was all a lie, prosecutors said.

A police patrol told officers who arrived at the scene of the alleged robbery that their surveillance cameras were not working. Investigators later obtained footage from a neighbor’s camera that showed Williams alone in the alley, the outlet reported.

Investigators said the story was made up just a week after Williams called 911. He turned himself in Tuesday, the news station reported.

He was relieved of his police powers the same day, the Chicago Police Department said in a statement to CBS.

It is unclear what prompted Williams to allegedly commit the robbery.
