Dramatic body camera video captured as Florida deputies rushed to the rescue of a 5-year-old girl who accidentally shot herself in the leg with a gun she found under the bed.

Deputies with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the home on Boxelder Steet in Deltona on Saturday afternoon and found the girl “conscious & alert but bleeding,” the agency said said to X.

“Deputies Maletto, Kagle, Williams, Estrada and Rodriguez worked quickly to administer aid, apply a tourniquet and get the child out to Deltona Fire Rescue,” police wrote.

“He was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where staff reported that quick response and the application of a tourniquet may have saved his life,” the sheriff’s office added.

The girl “gained access to a shotgun under a family member’s bed,” police said.

No arrests or charges have been made in connection with the accidental shooting at a north Orlando residence, officials said.

Detectives are investigating the incident and will forward the findings to the Attorney General’s Office for review, officials said.

Police released harrowing footage of the swift response. Much of it is blacked out for privacy reasons but the audio captures the dramatic interaction.

“Let me see, honey. Let me see,” a deputy was heard saying, to which the girl replied, “There.”

“Get a tourniquet! Get a tourniquet!” the deputy said. “Push down hard. Go go go go!”

The deputy warned the child that “this is going to hurt, okay?”

Police were commended for using a tourniquet that may have saved the girl’s life, officials said.

A moment later, he screamed in pain.

“We got you! You’re fine, honey. Don’t look,” the deputy assured him.

“Hold my hand. hold my hand. You’re going to be okay,” a first responder later told the terrified girl.

Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood praised the authorities’ response.

“The hairs on the back of my neck stood up listening to these deputies render aid to this 5-year-old girl,” Chitwood write on X. “What an extraordinary example of decisive action and compassion by all involved.”
