Chinese migrant says TikTok helped her to know where to cross the US southern border

As the influx of immigrants from around the world continues to rise, many are now crossing into the country through gaps in the border wall – and TikTok is reportedly helping them do so.

“TikTok, TikTok,” a translator speaking for a 37-year-old female Chinese immigrant told “60 Minutes” after being asked about how they found out about the southern border gap near California.

According to the “60 Minutes” segment, the migrants were said to have used a video on a Chinese-owned social media platform that provided ‘step-by-step instructions’ for finding loopholes in the border wall and hiring smugglers.

A TikTok spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “TikTok strictly prohibits human trafficking which we remove from our platform and report to law enforcement when necessary.”

According to TikTok’s website, the company provides a space for “survivors of human exploitation to share their stories, and for immigrants and refugees to be able to document their journey, so we provide a space to do that.”

The social media company also claims that 93% of human trafficking content on the platform has been proactively removed.

“60 Minutes” also reported that SUVs arrived along the border fence every thirty minutes to drop off more groups of migrants, totaling nearly 600 people who crossed the gap in just four days.

The Senate launched a new bipartisan border bill this month, but it quickly died due to strong opposition from Republicans.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., voiced his opinion on the proposed bill’s impact on X, stating, “I’ve seen enough.

This bill is worse than we expected, and will not come close to ending the border devastation the President has created. As a key Democratic negotiator declared: Under this law, ‘the border is never closed.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., also chimed in, saying, “Let me be clear: The Senate Border Bill will NOT receive a vote in the House. Here’s what the detractors of this ‘deal’ don’t tell you: It accepts 5,000 illegal immigrants a day and gives asylum seekers automatic work permits — a magnet for more illegal immigration.”

The head of the US Border Patrol was frustrated by the failure of Congress to approve the deal.

“We need more people. We need more online agents. They need more force multipliers in the way of technology and equipment infrastructure that not only helps them do their jobs better, it helps keep them safe.” Jason Owens during an interview with Fox News. “I am disappointed. And I will tell [Congress]don’t stop: Continue to work together and reach consensus that helps us keep this country safe.”

As the effects of the migration crisis spread, states struggled to keep up with the pressure of accommodating thousands of new immigrants.
