Chris Brown To Pay Over $10,000 To Backup Dancer For ‘Fake Blood’ Mishap

A judge in Spring Street Court has ordered Chris Brown to pay backup dancer Danielle Griffin more than $10,000, as revealed in new documents obtained by The Blast.

The legal battle began in 2019 when Griffin filed a lawsuit against the singer, claiming that someone on set poured toxic “fake blood” into his eyes.

The default judgment entered by the court ordered Brown to pay Griffin $14,977.95. Although damages totaled $11,411, the $3,566.95 charge was labeled “costs.” The decision was made after the court considered the “plaintiff’s written declaration.”

As already mentioned, the drama began in September 2019 when Griffin declared that the wardrobe and make-up artist were hired by the defendant — Major Hour Productions Inc. et al. — “indiscriminately poured fake liquid blood over his head without eye protection,” despite assurances of the substance’s safety.

He insisted that he suffered major injuries to both eyes and held Brown and the production company responsible, arguing that they should have known that the material could harm his eyes.

Griffin stated that the defendant “had a duty to properly train its employees and agents regarding the use of hazardous materials including fake liquid blood when preparing dancers and performers for the music video.”

He stated that although the video recording took place two years earlier, no assistance had been given to aid his recovery since then.

Therefore, the accuser wants the court to compel Brown and the companies involved in the shooting to compensate him for damages, including medical treatment and treatment for his personal injuries.

He is also seeking back pay for his lost wages and wants more than $25,000 in damages.

Brown faced more legal trouble when an alleged victim of a London club brawl filed a default entry against him, indicating that he had failed to respond to the pending lawsuit within a specified time period.

As a result, the accuser is asking the “New Fire” hitmaker to pay her $1 million in special damages and $15 million in general damages.

This development follows The Blast’s acquisition of the petitioner’s initial filing against the 34-year-old in October 2023.

In the filing, the individual claimed to have suffered a head injury and torn ligaments in his leg, which led to his hospitalization after he and Brown confronted each other in a London nightclub.

Even the Bank Wants Brown to Pay Off His Debt

Chris Brown arrives for the 62nd annual Grammy Awards in Los AngelesMEGA

Before details of the drama of the physical attack in London emerged, City National Bank [CNB] hit the Grammys winner with a lawsuit demanding repayment on loans given to him and his friends for the purchase of two fast food establishments.

The financial institution claimed in the filing that it had given Brown, rapper The Dream, and others $2 million in loans to invest in two Popeyes restaurants.

Documents released to The Blast reveal that “as of February 17, 2023, the borrower and guarantor owe $2,140,901.74 in unpaid principal and interest.”

It was reported at the time that the “Loyal” artist might have a hard time in this matter as a judgment had already been made in a Georgia court in favor of CNB.

In short, the lawsuit originated in the state of Georgia, but the bank chose to file the case in Los Angeles Court, acknowledging that the songwriter lives in that area.

Basically, the Los Angeles case is just an attempt by the bank to get back the money they won earlier in the lawsuit.

Just like the dancer who has a history of legal trouble, he also has experience in the restaurant business. It has been said that Brown owns 14 Burger King locations in Virginia, his home state.

These establishments likely contribute to Brown’s estimated net worth, which, depending on who you ask, ranges between $50 million and $150 million.

With such a large fortune, settling his CNB debt might be relatively easy for the father of three. However, the situation surrounding The Dream remains murky, leaving uncertainty as to whether the bank will pursue action against it.

Since the “I Luv Your Girl” rapper’s residence is in a different state, CNB may choose separate legal proceedings to seek collection, adding a layer of complexity to the situation.
