Chris Christie’s niece charged for drunken ‘Do you know who I am?’ airport meltdown

The nephew of the presidential candidate, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, has been hit with new charges a year after he was kicked off a New Orleans flight during a drug-induced Thanksgiving crisis that left several people with minor injuries.

The Jefferson Parish district attorney filed charges against Shannon Epstein on Monday in connection with her release from an early morning Spirit Airlines flight from New Orleans to New Jersey on Nov. 24, 2022, according to NOLA.com.

Epstein, 26, was charged with one felony count of resisting police with force or violence and two misdemeanor counts of disturbing the peace by public intoxication, the outlet reported.

The standoff occurred at New Orleans’ Louis Armstrong International Airport as a Newark-bound flight was en route to take off at 6 a.m., when Epstein allegedly asked a Latino family sitting near him if they were “smuggling cocaine.”

He then allegedly shouted at officers and refused to get off the jetway.

Shannon Epstein was charged with one felony count of resisting police with force or violence and two misdemeanor counts of disturbing the peace by intoxicating the public on Monday.

At one point, he “let loose” as officers tried to handcuff him, forcing police to block his path.

He “put up a fight and showed incredible strength” during the struggle, according to the report.

After he was handcuffed, Epstein allegedly continued to “struggle against the handcuffs, kicking, spitting on deputies, and trying to break free.”

Seven deputies had to handcuff Epstein to a wheelchair after he refused to get off the jetway and showed “extraordinary strength” as he foamed at the mouth and fought police.

While the deputy was engaged to him, Epstein reportedly did not name his famous political uncle and former President Donald Trump.

“Are you serious? You know who I am?” Epstein yelled, according to a police report seen by The Post at the time. “I’m connected to some very powerful people and I need to get back on that plane to New Jersey.”

“Do you know who I am? I’m Chris Christie’s daughter and you’re so crazy. You will lose your job over this s–t. I know Donald Trump,” he then shouted.

Epstein was “combative and displayed extraordinary strength” and was foaming at the mouth, according to the report.

At one point, police tackled Epstein to the floor, before he bit an officer on the bicep and “tore off his skin.”

He was arrested on six counts of battery of a police officer, three counts of disturbing the peace, one count of resisting arrest by force, and one count of being in a place after being prohibited, NOLA.com reported.

He was booked and released the same day at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on a $10,750 bond.

If convicted of the new charges, the most serious he has faced, Epstein could face one to three years in prison.
