Although the film grossed $760 million worldwide, Marvel fans were disturbed by the film’s tone. In particular, the amount of lively humor and special effects used in the film turned off fans.
Initially, writer-director Taika Waititi was praised for turning the dreary franchise into a success Thor: Ragnarök, but now, fans believe he went too far in the fourth and final installment.
Hemsworth feels the same way and is now opening up about the unintentional action comedy. “I think we had too much fun. It’s getting too stupid,” he said GQ magazine. His opinion became more solid when he realized how unhappy the fans were.

The actor admitted he struggled to get over fans’ disappointment. “It’s always difficult to be in the middle of it and have any real perspective…I love the process; it always rides. But you never know how people will react.”
Hemsworth says his harshest criticism comes from his children. “It was a group of eight-year-olds criticizing my film. ‘We thought this one had too much humor, the action was cool, but the VFX weren’t that good,'” he recalled of the criticism.
“I cringed and laughed at the same time.” Thankfully, the actor is done with the franchise. After eight films, the fourth Thor film is considered his last. He was not opposed to making more films, but his contract expired.

Hemsworth is excited to try out a different role and not too sad that his time with the franchise is over. He wants to do “some other things for a while.” If or when Marvel comes calling again, he’ll be there.
“I loved the experience,” he said. “I like that I get to do something a little different throughout the process. ‘Thor 1’ and 2 are their own thing, ‘Thor 3’ and 4 are very different flavors,” he said.
“And then also ‘Avengers,’ Lebowski’s Thor, ‘Infinity War’ Thor, because of different directors, and I think mostly my own need to do something different.”
Chris Hemsworth Still a Fan

Like many, Hemsworth has shared that he is a fan of the franchise and has even watched several of the Phase 5 movies. “Wakanda Forever” is “really cool.” He did not see Ant-Man: Quantumania, but it’s on his list.
His favorite part of making these films is when they all come together. “That’s the trick: you have to separate all those stories.” But, “Right now it’s like: ‘Your world is in danger, the whole universe!’ It was like, ‘Yeah, so [it] are the last 24 films.’ It has to be more personal and grounded.”
Now, Hemsworth is focusing on family and promoting his upcoming movies like Hulk Hogan bio, which Furious prequel, and sequel to Extraction 2.
