According to the celebrity chef, meeting his successor, Alexandra, is a blessing in many ways as she not only completes his family but also becomes an important member of the famous household. Speaking about their relationship with PEOPLE, the proud mother of four revealed:
“We talk all the time, always in nice little text exchanges. He sees all of my Instagram Stories, and I try to send him a little behind-the-scenes picture. I told him at the beginning of this journey, I want someone who will be there for the birthday party and for life.”
The former “Deal or No Deal” briefcase model added, “I want to meet his kids, and I want my kids to be friends with his kids. And they really are, which is a really beautiful thing to see.
Looking back on the two’s journey, Teigen admitted that she never planned to have a typical surrogate relationship with Alexandra. “It was a great atmosphere. He knew early on that, in this matter, I kind of wanted something that might be a little different from what other parents do,” explained the 37-year-old man.
The “Cookies and Cocktails” host noted that she understands why other families might not want to bond closely with their surrogate. However, in his case, he always supports creating a friendly environment for the people in his life.
The cookbook author admitted: “But for me, I think the way I operate with anyone in our house, whether it’s my nanny or my mother living with us, or my friends who are in the house or security or whatever, I wanted an atmosphere where everyone felt really comfortable in our home and that extended to him.”

Reaffirming her decision to be close to Alexandra, the mother of four stated she does not believe in “hoarding” love, nor is she jealous if her children are close to other people. “To me, more love is more love, and that’s what I always wanted, and it really worked for us. Two months before opening up about her close bond with her son’s surrogate, Teigen opened up about Alexandra’s impact on her and Legend’s lives. In June, the doting mum reflected on the journey leading up to Wren’s arrival in an emotional announcement of the boy’s birth.
The Utah beauty detailed her inspirational story in a 10-slide Instagram carousel, seven of which hold handwritten messages about her surrogacy experience. The 37-year-old man admitted that he had dreamed of having four children since childhood.
Unfortunately, Teigen’s dream was derailed in 2020 after losing Jack, a moment that made the entertainer doubt her ability to carry another baby. However, the “Bring the Funny” judges decided to try again while the couple weighed their options at the surrogacy agency in 2021.
The couple underwent IVF, the same process that helped them welcome their older children, Luna and Miles. “We make new embryos. We did my transplant and were so happy to find out it worked—we’re pregnant with our daughter, Esti,” the model revealed.

It was at this point that the couple met Alexandra, the “extraordinary, loving, compassionate surrogate” they had imagined. The entertainer claimed he knew the surrogate was the “perfect match” for the couple during their first conversation and immediately wanted to be his friend and connect their children.
After losing her first embryo, Alexandra made Teigen’s dream of four children come true a few minutes before midnight on June 19. The TV personality ended the broadcast with gratitude to the surrogate, claiming he had given his family “an incredible gift.”
