American model and actress Christie Brinkley has opened up about being diagnosed with skin cancer. The 70-year-old man took to his social media to share the health news along with a picture of himself from a hospital bed with scars on his face.
The model’s page was immediately flooded with comments from fans and friends wishing her a speedy recovery. News of her skin cancer diagnosis comes shortly after actress Olivia Munn opened up about her breast cancer diagnosis.

Brinkley, on Wednesday, shared the shocking news of her diagnosis with her nearly 900k followers, noting that she was lucky the “carcinoma” was caught early.
“The good news for me is that we caught Basal Cell Carcinoma early. And I had a great Doctor who removed the cancer and sewed me up to perfection like Dior haute couture,” the model began.
He then advised his followers to always try to protect their skin from the sun by using sunscreen.
Brinkley wrote, “The good news for you is that all of this can be seriously avoided with your sun protection! I’m seriously a bit late so now for this ole mermaid/gardener, I’m going to use my SPF 30, reapply as needed, wear long sleeves and a wide hat.”
The model added, “And doing regular checkups..it’s a MUST!”
Christie Brinkley Reveals How Her Cancer Was Found
In her lengthy post, Brinkly shared that she was lucky to find out about her cancer diagnosis because she happened to accompany one of her daughters to an appointment.
She stated: “I was lucky to see me, because I had accompanied one of my daughters for HER checkup .. The doctor was looking at every pimple with a magnifying glass… it wasn’t my appointment so I won’t say anything but at the end I asked if she could see a little dot I could feel when I applied my foundation.”
According to the model, her doctor saw a small dot on her face and was sure right away that it needed a “biopsy.”
“He looked and knew right away it needed a biopsy! He did it then and there!” Brinkley exclaimed.

Ending her Instagram post, Brinkley reiterated the need to make an appointment with a doctor to have the “luck” of diagnosing cancer early.
“So, make your luck better by making an appointment today. And have fun, my friends!”
The model also took the opportunity to thank the doctors at the New York Laser & Skin Surgery Center who helped her with the procedure.
“Thank you to Dr. Abraham, Dr. Anolik, Dr. Geronemus, Dr. Lloyd Hoffman at NewYork Laser & Skin Surgery Center,” he concluded.

Olivia Munn Earlier Shared Her Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Brinkley’s revelation comes after fellow actress Olivia Munn opened up about being diagnosed with breast cancer.
The mother of one shared in a lengthy and heartfelt statement on Instagram that she was diagnosed in February 2023 and has since undergone four surgeries.
“In the past ten months, I’ve had four surgeries, spent so many days in bed I can’t count, and have learned more about cancer, cancer treatment, and hormones than I ever imagined,” Munn said.
She claims that her cancer journey began when she “did a genetic test that checks you for 90 different cancer genes” and that she “tested negative for all, including BRA (the most well-known breast cancer gene).”
Munn noted that if her OBGYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, chose not to check her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score, she won’t be aware of her disease until her “next scheduled mammogram.”
The actress added in the caption of her post: “I hope that by sharing this it will help others find comfort, inspiration and support on their own journey.”
