‘Cinderella’ Star Maddie Baillio Shares AMAZING 150 Lb Weight Loss Journey

Actress Maddie Baillio, best known for her lead role in 2016’s “Hairspray Live!,” is talking exclusively about her journey to a healthier weight since the outbreak hit. In addition to “Hairspray Live!,” the star has appeared in other supporting roles such as “Dumplin'” and Camila Cabello’s version of “Cinderella.”

In an interview, Baillio talked about what led him to his weight loss journey and how he stayed there. The actress revealed that over the past two years, she has lost at least 150 pounds through a strict healthy diet and regular exercise.

During her 2016 role in “Hairspray Live!,” Baillio played Tracy Turnblad, Penny Pingleton’s (Ariana Grande) best friend. The actor spoke to People’s Magazine recently and explained everything behind her dramatic weight loss since starring in the film.

Baillio revealed that when the world came to a standstill during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, he focused on his health and well-being. Because of this, he lost more than half of his previous weight, around 150 pounds, within two years. The actress explained that she is now in a great place with her body and the people around her.

“Life is good,” Baillio said. “I am in a beautiful and healthy relationship with myself and my body and my family and partner, [boyfriend Solomon Reynolds]. … I was in a more centered and grounded place.”

Maddie Baillio Says It’s Hard To Compete With Her Co-Stars

The actress looks back on her time in Cabello’s “Cinderella” as 2020 begins and notes some of the difficulties she faced on stage. Baillio explained that although he felt comfortable in his body at the time, he found it increasingly difficult to keep up with the same pace as the other performers in the musical.

The “Dumplin'” cast recalled the deleted scenes that were scrapped because they had to reshoot them multiple times. “There was a scene that didn’t make it into the movie, where me and the other half-sister [Charlotte Spencer] led a group of 300 girls — great dancers, slim, they did it — down a 50-meter path to the palace singing ‘Wanita Tunggal’ and dancing,” Baillio said per Many people.

“I couldn’t compete with the choreography. I kept losing my breath. We had to start reshooting that scene over and over again for me,” he continued.

‘I Have Control Over My Body’

Following his move to Texas from the London set, Baillio revealed that he decided to build up his stamina and started by walking for 30 minutes. He explained that the activity benefits his mental and physical health, and he increased his time in the sun from 30 minutes to an hour. By the next week, the actor had started walking for two hours.

“I stepped on the scale, and it was inspiring to see that I had control over something – that I had control over my body,” Baillio added per Many people. He revealed that he also made changes to his diet, such as cutting out red meat completely. Further down the line, the actor became a vegan and engaged in activities such as hot yoga and other activities.

This all contributes to his stamina, and according to Baillio, “his whole world opens up” because of his ability to compete with others. “I would go to West Hollywood, and I could dance forever all night. Life is more fun when I have that physical stamina,” continued the actress.

Maddie Baillio Wants People to Feel Good About Themselves

Baillio revealed that he didn’t feel so restricted in the film industry when he was older; however, his weight loss gave him more opportunities. He also revealed that he feels hopeful that people will be given opportunities in the industry regardless of their size.

“I was inspired by the change in mentality,” the actress continued Many people. “I want to play my dream role on Broadway that has nothing to do with my weight. And I definitely see it going in that direction.”

She encourages people to feel confident about themselves regardless of how they look. “We need to feel good about ourselves. It cannot come from an outside source,” said Baillio.

Marylin Monroe’s voice actress revealed that when she was bigger and focused on her weight, people tried to encourage her, but their comments weren’t kind to her. Baillio explains, “Because you never know who’s struggling with what, how they got to that point.”
