Justin Baldoni was seen leaving the NBC studios in NYCMEGA

An ex comes back into her life and threatens to ruin everything she and her husband have built. Since the announcement of Lively as Lily and Justin Baldoni who will play the menace, Ryle, fans have called out Hoover for the unrealistic age difference in the characters.

At 35, Lively is more than a decade older than the 23-year-old character she plays. Baldoni is nine years older than the 30-year-old book character he plays.

“When I wrote It Ends With Us, new adults [genre] very popular,” he shared at the festival “You’re writing a college age character. That’s what I was contracted to do.” He admitted, “I didn’t know that neurosurgeons went to school for 50 years. There are no neurosurgeons in their 20s.”

He used the film to correct his mistakes. “When I started making this movie, I was like, ‘We have to age them because I made a mistake,'” he admitted. “So it’s my fault.” And while Lively’s age was off, Hoover said he was “very happy” with the actress.

The author doesn’t allow himself to get too excited about Lively being apart of the cast, it’s still a moment that pinches me. “It hasn’t finished filming anything can go wrong.”

Hoover also had to defend the clothing choices fans saw while the star was filming the movie. He “loved” the costume he admitted. And insists that fans draw conclusions. “You’ve seen some outfits that are completely out of context. I’m not worried about it.”

She also pointed out that the dress is not a big part of her book and fans shouldn’t be disappointed.

“I don’t remember describing the clothes at all. I don’t care what they wear. In my head, it’s about their conversation and the story.”

Colleen Hoover is Happy

So far, the author is impressed with what he sees. “I can see the footage they have recorded so far. I’m not a crybaby. I know that I write an emotional book but I am not an emotional person. And I cried a lot on set.”

Hoover continued, “You will be very happy. I am very happy and now my expectations have risen and I will keep them there.”

Hope the fans are satisfied with the final product! It is always difficult to adapt a book into a film especially one that has such a large following.
