A college student convicted of stabbing a blind date during sex in retaliation for a US drone strike that killed an Iranian commander now insists he was hallucinating amid the frenzy, telling The Post he believed he was Salma Hayek’s character in “ From Dusk Till Dawn. ”
Nika Nikoubin, 23, also claimed she only told authorities the stabbing was in retaliation for a deadly 2020 drone strike targeting the army chief because she thought he was starring in an episode of “Homeland” at the time she was questioned.
The Texas student, who suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, detailed her thoughts to The Post on Tuesday — just weeks after a judge sentenced her to three years of probation for stabbing her boyfriend, Daniel Trevino, in the neck during a meeting at a Las Vegas-area hotel last year. off
“I was in a very crazy state of mind,” Nikoubin said.
“I basically looked in the mirror and I thought, ‘This actress is hot,’ I thought I was Salma Hayek from the movie ‘Dusk Till Dawn,’ and I hallucinated there was a snake on my shoulder,” she added, referring to Quentin Tarantino’s 1996 script.

Nikoubin had met his victim on the Plenty of Fish dating app before the pair decided to meet for sex at the Sunset Station Hotel and Casino on March 5, 2022, police previously said.
During sex, Nikoubin blindfolded him and then stabbed him in the neck with a pink kitchen knife he brought with him.
The victim testified she pushed him away after feeling severe pain and yelling, “What are you doing?” Nikoubin immediately fled the hotel room but was caught by the police a short time later.

“I’ve come so far that even though I’m handcuffed around me, I still think I’m a character. I thought I would have a custody scene … like a scene filmed in a prison,” claims Nikoubin.
“When I was interviewed I thought I was a TV character. I thought I was Carrie [played by Claire Danes] from ‘Homeland’ and I imagined the camera behind me filming all these scenes.”
During questioning, Nikoubin – who came to the US from Iran at the age of 12 – told detectives he shed American blood out of “revenge and vengeance” for the US killing of Iranian military leader Qasem Soleimani.
“I don’t believe what I said that night. It’s not in my political view, it’s not in my family’s political view,” he claimed to The Post.

The man, who claimed he was not on medication at the time, said he only realized he had stabbed Trevino six weeks later while he was locked in a jail cell.
At trial, his lawyer blamed the stabbing frenzy on a psychotic episode.
Nikoubin told the judge she was raped when she was 18 and she didn’t realize how much her mental health had deteriorated afterwards.
He also claimed that he was in a mental health facility shortly before moving to Vegas – a month before meeting Tevino at the hotel.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of false imprisonment by using a deadly weapon, the judge sentenced Nikoubin to probation and house arrest. KLAS
“I was only three weeks off meds when I moved to Las Vegas and just walking down The Strip, I threw out all my meds,” she said.
“I’m hallucinating. I have so many fantasies. I drink alcohol. I didn’t do what my parents taught me to do. Couple all of that together, I had a manic episode. Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. This was all before I was arrested.”
Over the past year, Nikoubin claims he has consistently taken his medication.
The man, who claimed he was off medication at the time, did not realize he had stabbed Trevino until six weeks later, while he was locked in a jail cell.
Meanwhile, despite apologizing to his victim in court, the knife-wielding offender on Tuesday repeatedly refused to answer questions about it.
Trevino said in court that he had chosen to “forgive her” but “whatever the law decides, that’s up to the law.”
The Post reached out to him but did not immediately hear back.
