Overseer creator Alan Moore is on record slamming HBO’s adaptation of his Watchmen graphic novel.
Alan Moore Is Not Impressed With The Show’s Creators

Artists sit together GQ magazine where she explicitly shared that she told the show’s host, Damon Lindelof not to contact her. Moore did not mention Lindelof by name but it was he who served in that role for the show.
According to Moore, the show’s cast, whoever it was, sent her a nasty email about the 40-year-old graphic novel before filming began. “Dear Mr. Moore, I am one of the scoundrels who is destroying the ‘Guardian.’” That’s how he opened the letter.
Moore said this did not inspire confidence in him. “That wasn’t the best opener,” he admitted.

Apparently the letter was long and a little rude. “It continued through a lot of things that I felt, neurotic ramblings. ‘Could you at least tell us how to pronounce “Ozymandias”?” the letter asked.
Moore admitted he was brief with his response, “I responded with a very abrupt and possibly hostile response telling him that I thought Warner Bros. was aware that they, nor any of their employees, should contact me again for any reason.”
He explained in a letter sent back to them that he had “rejected the work in question, and partly because the film industry and the comics industry seem to have created things that have nothing to do with my work, but which will become associated with it in the public mind.”
Moore who has worked on other film favorites like Batman: The Killing Joker and V For Vendetta didn’t mince words in his response.
“’Look, this is embarrassing for me. I want nothing to do with you or your show. Please do not disturb me again.'”
‘Watchmen’ Is One of Alan Moore’s Worst

Moore has a rant for possibly one of his most popular works, Overseer; he went on to say that he was surprised that the show won any Emmys at all. The 2019 series takes its own path with Moore’s work. Which he doesn’t necessarily agree with.
“When I saw the television industry awards that the television show ‘Watchmen’ seemed to have won, I thought, ‘Oh, my god, maybe the majority of the public, this is what they think of “Watchmen”?’ They think it’s a dark, gritty, dystopian superhero franchise that has to do with white supremacy.”
This begs him to wonder, “Do they not understand ‘Guardians’?” The artist regrets that they turned it into more than that. “Guardian was almost 40 years ago and quite simple compared to a lot of my later work,” he insists, questioning whether they understand anything he has done since then as they struggle to understand what he considers “simple”.
Alan Moore Can’t Punish Himself

When GQ asked if Moore had watched Overseer after it was so successful or any adaptation of his work, the creator said:
“I would be the last person to want to follow any adaptation of my work. From what I’ve heard of them, it would be very punitive. It would be torturous, and for no good reason.”
