Actor Corey Feldman’s estranged wife, Courtney Anne Mitchell, has finally answered her legal separation request. However, he shared a different story.
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, Mitchell’s response indicated that she was ready for a full divorce rather than maintain their nearly seven-year marriage. Their divorce may have led to court drama because she wanted spousal support, which Feldman refused to pay.

Corey Feldman’s Estranged Wife Seeks Dissolution of Their Marriage

Mitchell’s request to dissolve her marriage to Feldman was filed on February 19 in California Superior Court in Los Angeles County. According to legal documents, he listed their wedding date as November 22, 2016, but listed their separation date as TBD (to be determined).
This contradicts Feldman’s statement in his legal separation filing, as he listed the date of their separation as “June 22, 2023.” Legally separating from a spouse leaves the union intact while retaining some marital benefits, such as medical insurance; however, Mitchell was not interested.
She ticked off Hollywood’s most common reason for divorce, “irreconcilable differences,” meaning she could no longer see eye to eye with her estranged lover. Since the couple has no children, child support is not an issue, but spousal payments seem to be.

Corey Feldman’s Ex Asks for Spousal Support

In his request for a divorce, the former star of “The Lost Boys” asked the court to grant him the right to seek spousal support. He also requested an end to Feldman’s ability to receive equal treatment.
Mitchell does not plan to pay anything in the dissolution of her marriage because she refused to pay her estranged husband her attorney’s fees and other costs.
His request continues, as he plans to keep whatever he has earned during the nearly seven years of the union. He asked the court to treat his assets as “separate property,” noting:
“The full nature and extent of respondent’s separate property is currently unknown. Respondent will provide details upon completion of discovery and disclosure.”
Feldman Wants To Separate And Hopes To Skip Spousal Support

Last September, Feldman filed for legal separation from Mitchell and asked a Los Angeles County District Court judge to end his right to spousal support. It is unclear whether the couple had a prenuptial agreement; however, he stated they had “separate property.”
“There are various community and quasi-community property assets and debts. The exact nature, location and extent of these are currently unknown,” the document explained, echoing the same sentiment as Mitchell’s response to the filing.
A month before Feldman’s legal separation filing, the estranged couple announced their separation in a joint statement. They claimed they had split because of their differences, writing:

“We’ve been through so much together and still have so much love and respect for each other. There’s no one to blame. This is a case of life becoming very difficult, Courtney dealing with health issues, and two people who have come a long way and now find themselves they are at a crossroads.”
Feldman Proposes Mitchell With A Cute Note

Six years before Feldman and Mitchell split, the two made waves for their blossoming relationship. In November 2016, “Stand by Me” talked about how cute he popped the big question.
The former couple were in Palm Springs at the Two Bunch Palms Resort when Feldman proposed with a high school-style note. He recalled that happy moment PEOPLEadmitted he used the written method because he was nervous.
“So I kind of fumbled and made a written proposal by writing a note with two check boxes, one for yes and one for no,” he explained. “Sure enough, there was a ring there with the note. Luckily, she said ‘yes!'”

Before “The Goonies” raised the big question, she and Mitchell had been dating for a long time. The couple were celebrating their 4th anniversary at Two Bunch Palms Resort when he proposed.
Recalling Mitchell’s reaction to the engagement, Feldman said: “She was shocked, excited, and started crying. She was shocked because we’ve both been so anti-marriage since we met.”
Although the Hollywood veteran was excited to tie the knot with his then sweetheart, he admitted that he proposed in part out of fear of the Donald Trump regime. In his words:
“But since he’s Canadian and co [Donald] Trump comes in, we don’t want to risk being separated by new immigration laws.”
