Kevin Hart was excited to meet the Internet-famous Corn Kid during an interview for Peacock’s “2022 Back That Year Up with Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson.” But to Hart’s surprise, Tariq, otherwise known as the Corn Kid, is more of a fan of Kel Mitchell.

During the comedy’s year-end special recap, hosts Hart and Thompson spoke with Tariq about his year full of comical fun. And while Hart was happy to talk to the famous 7-year-old TikTok, Tariq hilariously described it as a different celebrity – Thompson’s old pal Mitchell.
Corn Kid became Internet famous over the summer after a video interview with Recess Therapy went viral. The interview turned into a catchy song that most TikTokers couldn’t escape, and more interviews are coming for the intrepid corn lover. Tariq did several collaborations with YouTuber Mr. Beast, toured with Drew Barrymore on “The Drew Barrymore Show”, was named the Corn-bassdor of South Dakota, had a character dedicated to his likeness on “Saturday Night Live,” and many other corn- great moments that led him to be part of Peacock’s year-end recap.

When Thompson asked if Tariq still likes corn, as many may wonder if he’s sick of the vegetable that made him famous, he replied, “I still like corn!”
Tariq, who was clearly excited to talk to Hart and Thompson then changed the mood. “This is very exciting. I was able to meet the real Kenan and Kel,” he said. “You, Kel, when I watched like a few episodes ago, I saw you and you looked like a girl.” Hart, looking a little confused, decided to just leave. “Yes, it’s good, we’re both here. So go ahead and ask me, what do you see me doing,” Hart said.
Thompson then decided to jump in and maybe clear up some of this confusion. “So what do you think of a guy named Kevin Hart? You ever heard of Kevin Hart before?” Thompson asked. “You know, Kevin Hart, Jumanji, with Rock?” Tariq cutely replied, “No,” and explained that his 12-year-old sister is a big fan of the actor. Hart seemed to admit defeat and replied, “But you didn’t?”

The interview then turned to discuss Tariq’s recent appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on the Green Giant float. Corn Kid immediately interrupted the interview at that point saying, “Oh wait, I forgot one more thing about Kevin Hart. Like, when I see Kevin Hart, can my sister like see him and say hello?” Hart responded to the sweet gesture by saying, “I wanted to say hello to your sister but I’m trying to clarify, are you a fan or not? Like, what’s going on, man?” The fun doesn’t end there. Actually, it’s getting more intense. “You probably know this, Kel, but I didn’t know Kevin Hart until you told me this,” Tariq said.
Thompson then tries to clear up all the confusion by telling Tariq that his co-host is not Mitchell, but in fact, Kevin Hart. “You’ve got to straighten it out, man,” Hart told Thompson. “Seriously man, I’m getting hot.”

To end the hilarious segment, Hart has a message for Tariq. “Tariq, we are so happy for you and all the success you have achieved. More importantly, what we like is that you just be yourself,” he said. “This is Kel, checking out.”
