The series adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling novel of the same name has garnered critical acclaim and generated headlines since its March 3 premiere. The Fleetwood Mac-inspired story of the wildly popular fictional rock and roll band from the seventies has taken on a life of its own; the series’ companion album, featuring 11 songs all sung by cast members, shot to number one on iTunes!

To capture the group’s thunderous sound, ‘Daisy’ band members Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, and Josh Whitehouse had to attend rigorous rock and roll training in the form of band camp. Morrone has his own job; she had to read Jenkins Reid’s 2019 novel for the first time after getting cast as Claflin’s character’s wife.

The 25-year-old actress recently revealed what happened when it came time to join some bookworm business, and her story is pretty relatable for anyone who’s ever gotten their hands on a book!

Inside BookTok’s Monsterous Success Story ‘Daisy Jones And The Six

Three years before the release of the Amazon Prime adaptation of “Daisy Jones & The Six,” the world came to a standstill following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. While readers were stuck at home in quarantine, they gradually started logging into the then-new TikTok app, and the “BookTok” community began to take shape!

There are many author-related success stories on the app; in addition to Jenkins Reid’s popularity on the platform, author Colleen Hoover continues to experience skyrocketing levels of popularity thanks to the channel.

The Academy of Professional Writing attributes the success of Jenkins Reid’s BookTok to her writing’s ability to “offer readers a moment to revel in the human connection they feel so deprived of.

The outlet also revealed Jenkins Reid’s 2017 novel “The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo” has been a fixture on The New York Times Bestseller list for 72 weeks after its BookTok success!

Jenkins Reid, however, is very careful to maintain some boundaries between himself and his BookTok legacy!

When asked if she was familiar with her BookTok-inspired popularity in an interview with The Cut, Jenkins Reid said, “I try really hard not to watch BookTok videos. I need to create a clear wall between me and what people think of my work—whether it’s good or bad,” he continued. “I’ve seen various videos people have made of my work because they’ve come to me, but I don’t let BookTok permeate my ‘FYP [For You Page]’ as they say.”

How Did Morrone Adjust To The World Of ‘Daisy Jones’ And Taylor Jenkins Reid?

The clock is ticking at the eleventh hour before Morrone and his crew are ready to try out their new life in the Daisy Jones universe. The actress had one milestone to reach before reporting to play Camila Dunn; he had to read “Daisy Jones and the Six!”

In a new interview with Nylon Magazine, Morrone made no secret of how much time he has to finish his homework. She’s two days from her audition date, and she still hasn’t broken the spine on her copy of “Daisy Jones and the Six.”

“I thought I was going to cram like I did in high school and get major points [from SparkNotes] by chance the casting director said, ‘Did you read the book?’ I can say yes,” he told the outlet.

There will be no shorter path taken; Morrone is totally in love with Daisy and her rock star world of excess!

“Then I accidentally flipped the book,” Morrone added. “I’m not coming to vent until I’ve finished everything.”

Embracing “Daisy Jones and the Six” didn’t take as much effort as Morrone might have thought at first. He continued, “It’s been a long time since I sat down and read a book voluntarily. I have a bad relationship with reading because of being forced at school to read books that you don’t even relate to. It was my first introduction to different types of writing and different writing styles that made me fall in love with recreational reading, as nerdy as it sounds.”

“Daisy Jones and the Six” is not the only novel by Jenkins Reid to receive media treatment! “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” will be adapted into a Netflix movie, and “One True Loves” will be released to the big screen later this year!
