Veteran English actress Helen Mirren recently recalled her previous relationship with “Taken” actor Liam Neeson. The Oscar winner has been awarded the Triple Crown of Acting in both the US and his home country, the UK, for his contribution to the film industry over the past few decades.
Mirren and Neeson first met in 1980 while filming the fantasy film, “Excalibur.” They dated and lived together for four years before amicably breaking up in 1985. The actor married Taylor Hackford, and Neeson met his late wife, Natasha Richardson.

Mirren shed some light on her past relationship with veteran actor Neeson again in an interview with AARP Magazine. During the conversation, the “Red” actor revealed that their past relationship ended because they were never meant to be with each other like that.
“We weren’t meant to be together that way, but we love each other so much,” Mirren said. “I love him very much to this day. He is an amazing man.”
The couple was together from 1980 to 1985 and lived together during that time. Neeson previously revealed that Mirren was an important part of his backstory and acting because of her help in helping him get an agent early on.

Mirren further spoke about her love for making clothes; however, he stated that he was not very good at it. According to the actress, she has a shirt-making phase and has given all her previous boyfriends at least one. This includes Neeson, the late Peter O’Toole, and her current husband, Hackford.
“I made my own clothes, really badly, and then I rarely wore them because they were so awful,” Mirren said. “But I love the process of making it … I went through a phase of making men’s shirts. All my boyfriends have to have shirts made by me.”
The actress admitted, “I made one for Liam, weirdly enough.” When it was suggested that Mirren have her own line of clothes, she laughed and called the clothes she worked on “really bad clothes.”

In a separate section from AARP interview, Mirren revealed that she thinks people “change completely.” He continued, “I mean, I’m a completely different person than I was when I was 22 or 23. Even your skin changes. Your body changes. The way you think changes.”
In an interview with Neeson on “The Graham Norton Show,” Mirren talked about their living arrangements while together and revealed that their relationship was serious for a while. He said, “We’re not dating; we lived together for four years — we were a serious item for a while. Lucky me!”
The cast of “Memory” at the end recalled when they met Muhammed Ali when they were still together. According to Neeson, the boxer had tried to flirt with Mirren, and instead of feeling offended, he felt proud. “I think I should be angry. But all I could think was, ‘Wow, Muhammad Ali is trying to get my girl. It’s great!’.”

During the Norton interview, Neeson recalled the first time he saw Mirren and how “moved he felt. “I remember being on set,” the actor said, “the first AD or the second AD said, ‘Would you like to meet Helen Mirren.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’d love to.'”
“She walked from 100 yards dressed like Morgana le Fay, and Ciarán [Hinds] was my oldest friend, and we both went, ‘Shit.’ I was struck. I think Ciarán was beaten too, but I was definitely beaten!”
According to Mirren, they ended things because it was difficult for the actress “to be in my shadow.” While talking to New York Times, he said, “I am famous; I have money … I have a feeling from Liam that it’s time for him to come out from under my wing. She handled it with great grace and elegance. We love each other. It’s hard to let go.”
