Fans were excited to learn that “Lost” creator Damon Lindelof is writing the script for the “Star Wars” movie with “The Strain” writer Justin Britt-Gibson.
Unfortunately, reports surfaced earlier this week revealing Lindelof and Britt-Gibson left the project just days after submitting their scripts. Although the project is still slated to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy of “Ms. Marvel Fame”, the untitled film now has a new writer.

On Wednesday, Variety was the first to report that “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight is now set to write the screenplay for the untitled “Star Wars” movie that Lindelof and Britt-Gibson had originally started.
It’s unclear how much Knight plans to keep or if he’ll start the project from scratch. Plot details surrounding the new film have been kept under wraps, but it has been reported that it is intended to be a standalone film with the potential for a sequel if the first one does well.

Another important detail about the as-yet-untitled film is that it is slated to take place after the events of 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker,” which concluded the sequel trilogy and the nine-episode Skywalker Saga. The polarizing film is the last Star Wars movie fans will be able to see in theaters, and they may have to wait until 2025 — if not longer — to see another one.
More information is expected to be announced about the film at the annual Star Wars Celebration event, which takes place in London next month. Fans can also expect to hear more about Lucasfilm’s Disney+ shows, including “Skeleton Crew,” “Ahsoka,” “The Acolyte” and season 2 of “Andor.”

“Yes. I am very aware of the ratio of filmmakers who make it to the starting line. As you know, Steve, I’m a student of the business, so of course I take that into account,” Levy said. “But here’s my attitude: I have this golden ticket to a galaxy far, far away, and I’m going to devote myself to developing the screenplay that gave me the privilege of making this film.”
“I don’t attach things because they look good in trade announcements. I stick to what I want to do. And you better believe I won’t waste this most exciting opportunity,” he continued. “I’m going to work my a– off. But first, I have to work on making Deadpool. So of course this is a long-term plan, but I want to be one of the films that make it to the starting line because this is a rare opportunity, and I want to make the most of it.”

So there is a lot of work to be done.”
