On Wednesday, August 30, the author of “No Filter: The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful” took to Instagram to share the negative comments about her appearance that she received on her post. “She looks 75 years old, no less… my 83 year old grandmother looks like this,” commented one user.

“She looks old for 58,” wrote another netizen. “Very frowned upon for someone in the beauty and fashion industry,” commented another. “You are the most beautiful model. But why should you give up! At least do something about your hair,” another netizen chimed in.

“This is my hashg ‘between Jlo and Betty White’ – this gap we fall into as women get older,” she explained. “It seems online you’re a slick young woman until you fall off a cliff- and reappear as a crony. That is, an old woman with wrinkled white hair.”

“There is no real picture of the aging process. I suspect this is why this person needs to tell me how old I am,” he added. “I myself am not entirely sure what a woman my age looks like. I only know what I look like.” She closed her post with the hashtags “Between JLo and Betty White,” “Older Is Bolder,” and “No Filter.”

Fans had mixed reactions to Paulina’s post, but most, if not all, were supportive. “Since childhood, people are brainwashed to do anything (and buy every product/service) to look as young and fit as possible. Being happy even as we age or gain/lose weight or wear whatever we want – threatens to brainwash and upset people and this angry and critical response is the result,” commented one fan. “I feel sorry for people who can’t think for themselves. They will never know true peace.”

“That comment broke my heart. Bunch of mean girls….. I for one thank you for your honest post! I’m not far behind you at 53 and growing up wanting to be you,” another follower wrote. “You are an inspiration and a very beautiful woman inside and out. I love that you read and respond to comments personally and that you call out bullies. So no need to be bad. Don’t let them get to you.”

“Paulina, try to ignore the negative comments from those trolls. In my opinion, you are more beautiful than ever. We, your fans and friends, love your natural beauty,” wrote another fan. “You look like an angel and that’s the only truth ,” another follower agreed.

“Humans haunt me. You look great. It is a projection. How they wish they looked like you,” a third fan chimed in. “It’s all just talk … for anyone who feels the need to criticize … they should take a long, long look in their own mirror and check their moral compass too … Kudos to you for always keeping it real and beautiful inside and out,” shared another follower.

“Little cowards with really mean streaks hiding behind cell phone screens / they wouldn’t say this to you in person, in front of other people. And it’s also blatantly untrue. You are passionate, beautiful, alive, and interesting,” one fan chimed in, to which another follower exclaimed, “EXACTLY what I came here to say!!”
