The dancer admitted to Emily Ratajkowski this week that life will go on Mother dances not good for him because he is Miller’s favorite. He was trained and encouraged to treat others badly, mostly by production.
On Monday High Low with EmRata podcast episode, the 20-year-old wants to flip the way people see him. “Last year, I had a bad panic attack, and I called my mom, and things came up from the past, and she apologized to me,” he confessed to the model.
“He said, ‘I’m so sorry I put you through that.’ It’s sad because he would never want to hurt us, but none of us knew how crazy it was going to be.”
He recalled the moment that stuck with him when the producer took him aside, without his mother, and told him that he had to act like a “brat”. A “bratty persona” was much needed at the time.

The actress says that at 7, she didn’t know what to do. “When I did the show, in the first season … I was seven years old, there [were] male producers say, ‘Here’s what you have to say.’” She felt depressed and unprotected from the grown men around her.
“My mom wasn’t in the room, so I was like, ‘OK, I just have to do whatever I’m told.’ They’ll say, ‘Say you’re the best, say you’re better than everybody else, say blah blah blah.’” Ziegler followed their lead, and he “was treated like a little boy in the first season,” as they had hoped.

He cried to his mother seeing how he appeared on the screen. “I remember we watched the first episode at the viewing party for the launch of the show, and I just cried because I was like, ‘Oh my god. Everyone thinks I’m a bitch, and I’m not. I’m seven years old!'”
The horrific experience certainly took a toll on the former reality star. “It’s very strange. It helped me a lot to say, ‘I can say no. I can stand on my own.’ But being too young, you don’t realize all that.”
He also concluded that being Miller’s favorite and “well-treated dancer” had the opposite effect.
“Looking back — and a lot of people have started saying this — it’s like, ‘Wow, she has the most pressure on her,’ because she’s like, ‘You’re my girl, so you have to lead everybody to victory every time,’ which unsustainable.”
