The daughter of an elderly hostage who was left in critical condition after being freed by Hamas terrorists Sunday slammed the Red Cross for allegedly failing to care for her “medically neglected” mother.
Alma Avraham, an 84-year-old mother of five who was freed as part of a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, was flown by helicopter directly from Gaza to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba in Israel, where she remains in critical condition, her daughter Tali Amano told reporters.
“My mother does not deserve to come back like this,” Amano said, before blaming humanitarian aid organizations including the Red Cross and the United Nations for allegedly not doing more to try to gain access to the hostages while they were being held, according to the Times of Israel.
“My mother was medically neglected,” added the daughter, detailing how her mother went without daily medication for more than 50 days, only adding to the elderly woman’s physical stress.

When her mother finally reached a hospital in Israel on Sunday night, she had almost no pulse and a very low temperature, Amano said.
“He arrived with a heart rate of 40 bpm and a body temperature of 28 degrees Celsius [82.4 degrees Fahrenheit]almost unconscious and injured all over,” said Amano.
His mother was hospitalized in the intensive care unit, where she remains in critical condition.
“He was abandoned twice – once on October 7 and the second time by all the organizations that were supposed to save him,” Amano claimed.

“I hope they don’t beat her,” he added, indicating he hoped his mother would make a speedy recovery.
Humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross claim they have been stopped by terrorists trying to get hostages. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently indicated that at least the Red Cross might be allowed to reach those in captivity as part of a temporary ceasefire agreement.
Avraham was released by Hamas on Sunday along with 16 other hostages, including nine children, bringing the total number freed since the four-day ceasefire to 58.
Also released over the weekend was the first American to be freed during the truce: a 4-year-old girl in captivity whose parents were killed by Hamas during the October 7 attack on Israel.

A Russian Israeli was also released — the first Israeli adult to be released during the ceasefire. He was working as a sound engineer at the Tribe of Nova music festival when Hamas launched its surprise attack.
In return for the hostages, Israel agreed to hand over dozens of Palestinian prisoners and send humanitarian aid trucks to Gaza.
The terms of the ceasefire allow Hamas to extend the ceasefire by one day for every 10 hostages released.
