Looks like Madison Cawthorn’s love for Dave Chappelle will never die!
The former North Carolina Representative reportedly loves Chappelle’s new comedy special even though the stand-up comedian is bashing people with disabilities like him. According to US media, Cawthorn allegedly found the routine acceptable, funny and part of “living in a free society.”
Madison Cawthorn Has Nothing Against Dave Chappelle
In Netflix’s latest special, “The Dreamer,” Chappelle once again takes aim at the transgender and disabled community. For the routine, he declared, “Tonight, I’m doing all the disabled jokes. They are disordered like gays, and I like punching.”
Including a bit about meeting Cawthorn, wheelchair-bound after a 2014 car accident that left him partially paralyzed, he joked, “I just walked away. I want him to see me do something he can’t do. I skipped.”
Instead of being offended by the joke, the former congressman revealed that he enjoyed being jokingly grilled by Chappelle. He went on to claim that he found humor in his wheelchair exhibition game, especially since he was a public figure.
Touching on another topic involving Cawthorn, Chappelle referenced infamous allegations about the politician being invited to sex parties during his term in Congress. Much like the wheelchair punch, the politician remained unfazed, saying that the 50-year-old’s joke about orgy didn’t bother him.
As it turns out, the 28-year-old was aware beforehand that he would be the target of the special because friends who caught Chappelle’s set in Nashville gave him a look. Cawthorn also revealed to TMZ that Chappelle is his favorite comedian, and he attended one of the comedian’s shows in Tampa to hear the jokes himself.
She shared that Chappelle was surprised to see her in the audience and invited her backstage after the show. There, Chappelle introduced Cawthorn to his family and shared a drink with him.
As for her swipe at the transgender community, The Blast noted that the “Home Improvement” star began by reminiscing about meeting actor Jim Carrey on the set of the 1999 film, “Man on the Moon,” in which Carrey portrayed the late actor Andy Kaufman. .
“I was very upset because I wanted to meet Jim Carrey and I had to pretend he was Andy Kaufman all evening. It’s obviously Jim Carrey. I could look at him and clearly see it was Jim Carrey. I say all that to say… that’s what trans people make me feel,” Chappelle quipped.
After recalling his encounter with Carrey, Chappelle went on to address the controversy surrounding his anti-trans jokes, saying:
“If you all came here to tonight’s show thinking I’m going to make fun of that person again, you’ve come to the wrong show. I no longer hang out with that person. It’s not worth the trouble. I didn’t say s— about them. Maybe three or four times tonight, but that’s it. I’m tired of talking about them. And you want to know why I’m tired of talking about them? Because these people act like I need them to be funny.

He continued, “Well, that’s ridiculous. I don’t need you. I’ve got a new angle coming. You guys will never see this coming. I’m not making trans jokes anymore.”
Unruly Show Attendees Lead Chappelle To Drop His Microphone Earlier Than Planned
Meanwhile, The Blast reports that Chappelle was kicked out of one of his shows recently after a contestant failed to follow his rules. According to the report, during the final part of Chappelle’s performance on December 27, he interacted with an audience member and saw someone filming near the front row.
He immediately singles out the individuals, criticizes them for recording, and explains his no-phones policy to the audience. During his rant, the controversial comedian compared the phone directed at him to a weapon and alerted security.
After his speech, Chappelle left the stage clearly shaking his head in frustration. It’s no longer news that Chappelle has a strict policy that prohibits cell phones and recording devices during his shows.
Attendees are informed of the no phones policy when purchasing tickets, and reminders are prominently displayed throughout Hard Rock Live with signs emphasizing the restriction.
To comply with this policy, participants must place their phone in a Yondr bag upon entering the venue. These bags are then securely locked and can only be opened in a designated area outside the theater.
