Famous guitarist and singer Dave Mustaine claims that he is the leader of the popular metal band Metallica. Almost 30 years after leaving the group, he opened up for Classic Rock magazine about his position in the heavy metal band that formed in 1981.
This claim comes after the interviewer, Paul Elliot, recalled the statement in his autobiography “Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir,” published in 2010. In the book, he claimed to be “the leader of the band” before leaving in 1983 to start his own band .
Elliot revealed how “weird” his claim was since Drummer Lars Ulrich and lead singer James Hetfield founded the band.

Dave Mustaine Believes He Is ‘Alpha Male’

“I’m definitely the alpha male of the three of us,” Mustaine said in his interview with Classic Rock Magazine. He revealed that he shouldered most of the responsibility as a member of the group. He said, “Why do they always ask me to talk to the organizers and collect the cash? Why am I the one who has to fight? Why do I have to talk between songs?”
The star left the group in 1983 to form his own band Megadeth. When asked about the switch, he revealed the tension between the two groups after he left. Mustaine also talked about his reasons for getting into music in the interview.

As mentioned News Week, during the pandemic, the “Master Of Puppets” singer provoked some fans during a performance in New Jersey. He spoke out against being forced to wear masks and medical tights that come with COVID-19. Mustaine also went viral for allegedly calling a fan a misogynistic and homophobic slur at a concert in 2013.
Although the singer was involved in several controversies, it did not affect Megadeth. The group received positive feedback from fans after releasing “The Sick, the Dying… And the Dead!” The album released on September 2 is their first album in almost six years.

Dave Mustaine’s Rage Is His On-Stage Persona
Current Classic Rock interview, the metal singer revealed that many fans believed him to be a man who was usually “angry” and “out of control.” He refers to his meeting with fans, for example, when he said some insults. He later explained that his angry version was mostly a “stage persona.”

Mustaine said, “It’s going out there and tightening your belt and taking swipes and just yelling at whoever will listen. However, behind the persona, he is loving and caring. He recalled calling his former bandmate, James Hetfield, “a few days ago” after Hetfield told him something.
Mustaine revealed that Hetfield had shared his insecurities about playing. He recalled Hetfield’s enthusiasm, saying, “James, I love you and I really like your game.” Mustaine also praised Hetfield and called him “one of the best guitarists in the world.”

Dave Mustaine Is Very Proud Of His Achievements
Amidst the controversy Mustaine has faced, the singer insists that he is proud of his achievements in the music industry. The star reflects on how he started his career, joined Metallica, and formed his own band.
Although he plans to be in the “biggest metal band” ever, he’s still proud of his accomplishments with Megadeth. “There’s not much bigger than Megadeth,” he said of the group. He also assured fans that he has a bright future “ahead” and won’t be retiring anytime soon.

Rockstar is a throat cancer survivor. He announced on his Instagram page in June 2019 that he had been diagnosed with the deadly disease and was undergoing treatment. Mustaine wrote, “I’ve been diagnosed with throat cancer. It’s obviously something to respect and face head-on – but I’ve faced obstacles before. I work closely with my doctor, and we’ve mapped out a treatment plan that they feel has a 90 percent success rate. %. Treatment has already begun.”
By September of the same year he was diagnosed with strep throat, Mustaine revealed to fans that he was on a steady road to recovery. His Megadeth bandmate Ellefson later announced in October that he had undergone treatment and that all that remained was a full recovery which, as NMEthey are “optimistic” about.
