Democratic lawmaker says Congress should consider vote to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib

Rep. Florida Democrat Jared Moskowitz argued Tuesday that House lawmakers should consider a vote to impeach Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib for her refusal to accept US and Israeli findings which concluded that Israel was not responsible for the bombing of a hospital in Gaza.

Tlaib, a member of the far-left “Squad” of House parliamentarians, on Monday called for an “independent investigation” into last week’s bombing at Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza City, claiming that the US and Israel both have a “long, documented history of misleading the public about war and war crimes.”

He has at least twice previously blamed Israel for the bombing, citing claims made by the Hamas terror group.

“Look, Congress is united in supporting Israel,” Moskowitz told Fox News “Outnumbered” co-host Kayleigh McEnany. “I continue to be frustrated with members of Congress who are unwilling to listen to US intelligence and listen to the Biden administration, which says Israel had nothing to do with the issue that happened in the hospital parking lot.”

Both the White House and the Israeli government have determined that the blast was caused by an errant Islamic Jihad rocket fired from the Palestinian border.

Islamic Jihad is a smaller, more radical Palestinian terrorist group that often collaborates with Hamas.

The Israeli government has published intercepted phone calls from Gaza and other evidence it says shows its forces were not behind the bombing.

Israeli officials also said several dozen people lost their lives in the explosion, rather than the 500 or so that Hamas had reported.

“There is no evidence of it,” Moskowitz, who is Jewish, said of the death toll of 500 cited by the media, including the New York Times, shortly after the blast.

“Any member of Congress who continues to believe Hamas’ information over US information is clearly very troubling,” he added.

When pressed by McEnany about the possibility of censuring Tlaib for spreading “terrorist talking points,” Moskowitz noted that once a new House speaker is in place, censure should be considered.

“Oh, listen, I think as soon as we get the speaker of the House here, I think a resolution of censure will come to the floor. And I think it’s something that everybody should consider,” Moskowitz said.

“This is about US intelligence. This is about US information. This is about not wanting to trust the Biden administration and US intelligence, but instead continuing to pretend like the Ministry of Health coming out of Gaza is nothing but a terrorist organization telling the public what we want to hear,” he added. “We just heard the leader of Hamas talking about genocide. I mean, good Lord, it’s propaganda to the 10th degree. And people need to stop buying it and they need to hear the facts.”

An investigation by the Wall Street Journal, CNN and the Associated Press has found evidence that the missile came from the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization – and not Israel – based on television footage they said appeared to show a Palestinian rocket misfiring in the air over a hospital.

The New York Times, which initially pinned the bombing on Israel, citing Hamas, retracted its report on Monday, admitting it “relied too much” on information from the terror group.
