Through Instagram, Richards issued a statement with a black background and words that read, “I want to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has contacted me and Aaron over the years. We are both very grateful to be safe. The love and support from all of you is so encouraging!! We are so grateful for each and every one of you.”

Since he dropped the post a few hours ago, it has garnered over 10k likes and hundreds of comments. “The Young and the Restless” actor John T. McCook stated, “So thankful you’re both safe.”

Two hours earlier, one fan who couldn’t contain his feelings wrote extensively, beginning with, “You two radiate such realness, and I really hope you’re both doing well. It’s scary, and it hurts to see people deal with situations the way they do.”

The fan added that Richards was “so inspiring as a person and an artist,” and the fact that he showed up on the movie set right after the road rage incident “shows what a great soldier he is.” He concluded by exclaiming, “I’m glad you two are safe! Lots of love from Toronto.”

The Blast reports that trouble started for the 51-year-old and her man when they headed to Popsicle Studio on Monday, November 14. As it turned out, neither Richards nor Phypers could locate their destination correctly, causing the driver behind them to become increasingly frustrated.

Before they could blink, the irritated driver started yelling at them and trying to get in front of them. Although Phypers let the driver pass them, he allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the couple’s truck, hitting him in the “rear end of the driver’s side.”

Although no one was hit by the shooting, the “The World Is Not Enough” actor was understandably shocked by the incident as he reportedly sobbed when he finally arrived on set. Within minutes of spotting bullet holes in the star’s vehicle, a production crew allegedly alerted law enforcement officials.

While it’s unclear if police arrived at the studio or if a report was filed at the time, an off-duty officer was seen escorting Richards and Phypers onto the highway. From there, they found their way home without any further disturbance.

Richards had to deal with offensive trolls following his road rage incident. The Blast shared that a Twitter user aimed hateful tweets at the “Drop Dead Gorgeous” star. The tweet, which has since been taken down for violating the platform’s rules, read, “Don’t give a damn hope he’ll take a graze shot to the neck honestly.”

Richards chose to hit back at the user, tweeting, “Thank you. I would never wish any harm on anyone. What I went through yesterday with my husband, you don’t care. Was the scariest situation I’ve ever been in. I’m sorry the punch didn’t hurt my neck… hole**.”

Other fans kept it sweet by sharing their support, with one tweeting, “I’m glad to hear it didn’t get any worse. My prayers, thoughts, strength, and support are with you.” Another Twitter user commented, “I wish I had magic words to stop gun violence in this country.

Hopefully time will help you both move forward and help you both feel better.” Richards’ initial response garnered hundreds of likes, with some denouncing his bad behavior.
