Derek Hough and his fiancee, Haley Erbert, received a chilling omen just days before their best friend, Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, took his own life.
Erbert took to Instagram on Friday, December 23, revealing they were involved in a horrific car accident in the mountains.
The accident happened on December 12.

“On December 12, Derek and I had a pretty scary car accident in the mountains. Our accidents involved steep hills, icy roads, trees, and worst of all, our fear of sliding down the mountain,” he captioned the video. “Considering the situation, we have a lot to be thankful for. First, that no one else is involved. Second, quick response from paramedics. And the last one, we were both fine and I just left with a little bump, a swollen face, and four stitches above my eyebrow.”
The video begins with a warning message to viewers and cuts to a montage of the wreckage, the fire truck, their wrecked car and Erbert receiving medical treatment for a head wound.
The video continues with footage of Erbert’s home after the accident curled up on the couch with a bunch of snacks.
Hough asked his future wife, “What do you do after you’re in a car accident, you go to the emergency room, get stitches, and there’s nowhere to eat?”
Erbert replied, “So we went to the grocery store and got a lot of snacks.
Their snack stack consists of Twizzlers, Swedish Fish, Tostitos chips, salsa, Whoppers, Hot Tamales and pepperoni pizza with Ranch dressing.
The professional dancer’s caption concluded, “Now, more than ever, we realize how fragile life is and how important it is to love those around you. We hope everyone has a safe, healthy and happy holiday season. XO.”
Hough Reveals Haley Doesn’t Remember Anything From The Crash

He commented on the post, “The scariest part is that Hayley doesn’t remember anything. He was in a daze afterwards, cheerfully saying we should go straight to dinner as the blood was running down his face. That really scares me. He arrived 20 minutes later when the firemen arrived.”
The timing of tWitch’s accident and death is very creepy.
tWitch took her life between Monday, December 13 and Tuesday, December 14.

“I found out a guy I knew died by suicide on Thanksgiving morning, and it was a complete shock because he was the most positive, upbeat, beautiful guy you could ever imagine, and it was shocking to say the least,” Hough said. . at the beginning of the video. “But it’s a stark reminder of this time of year and the depression, the seasonal depression, and the fair and the time of year when people feel like it’s too much.”
Hough originally planned to do the PSA a few days ago, but was unable to do so at the time.
tWitch’s death really shocked the dancer, and Hough decided to finally sit down and make the video.

“Now I’m learning about our friend Stephen and the fact that he’s gone the same way as this guy in a matter of weeks… it’s just heartbreaking, confusing, shocking. There are so many different feelings and I’m trying to figure it out,” the ‘DWTS’ alum added. “I just wanted to express and just to say to anyone out there who is feeling these thoughts and feelings, please, please I’m begging you – I’m begging you, give people a chance to be there for you.”
Hough continued, “I know what it’s like when you’re in that dark hole it’s never going to get better, and I’m telling you right now, I promise you it will. It gets better. So if you have those thoughts, if you have those feelings, know that you are not alone. And when I say that you are not alone, I mean that people are feeling that feeling right now. They have those thoughts, those worries now and that you are not alone. We weren’t meant to do this alone… We weren’t meant to figure this all out on our own. We aim to figure this out together.”
