A woman is suing Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, claiming she was seriously injured as a result of a “painful marriage” she experienced falling down a water slide at Typhoon Lagoon.
The woman visited the park to celebrate her 30th birthday in October 2019 and decided to take one of the scariest attractions – the high-speed Humunga Kowabunga, where riders plunge 214 feet on an almost vertical drop.
Riders, who don’t use any rafts or tubes, can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour on the slide, according to the lawsuit, obtained by WESH.
As he prepared to plummet at the top of the slide, the plaintiff crossed his legs at the ankles as he was instructed to do, the suit filed Wednesday alleges.
As he neared the end of his descent, “his body lifted up, he [became] airborne, and he was slammed down against The Slide – which increased the likelihood of his legs becoming uncrossed,” the suit says.
The impact of the slide caused her swimsuit to be “forced painfully between her legs and water violently forced inside her,” the suit alleges.
