Michael Jackson’s former doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, is recovering from his traumatic past with the King of Pop!
Given his status as one of the most influential cultural figures of the 20th century, the music icon needs no introduction. Various artists across genres have been influenced by the late entertainer’s soulful songs and mesmerizing choreography.
However, the moonwalk’s four decades of achievements came to a tragic end in 2009. The “Billie Jean” hitmaker’s death was attributed to her doctor’s treatment, and the medical practitioner was jailed for involuntary manslaughter in 2011.

Most people would run away when a high-profile client like Jackson dies on the doctor’s watch. However, Murray managed to relaunch his medical career twelve years after the ordeal. As shared by PEOPLE, the DCM Medical Institute opened last month in El Socorro, San Juan.
During the launch of the medical facility, the former doctor of The Jackson 5 member opened up about his struggles and what inspired him to open the institute. According to the 70-year-old man, his old colleagues have turned their backs on him because of his status as a contributing factor to the death of the “Bad” singer.
“When I returned to Trinidad, most of the colleagues I trained with felt that I was too threatened to attend,” explained the doctor. “When all I’m willing to do is to collaborate, educate more, and instill more awareness.”
The father of seven continued, “So they decided to lock the door by chance when they saw the case I was on,” noting that their dismissal strengthened his resolve to overcome his notorious past. Murray admitted:
“It is difficult. I dealt with a country that locked its borders for two years, but I did not give up. I felt that I had to be relentless.”
The medical practitioner grew up in Trinidad and Tobago after his parents emigrated from Grenada. “Here it is!” the author later moved to the United States, where he was recognized as a doctor. However, his reputation declined following the death of the “Beat It” artist.
As noted, Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for Jackson’s death from a heart attack. The 2011 case had a six-week trial in which prosecutors painted the defendant as an unscrupulous doctor who traded the Hippocratic oath for $150,000 a month.

The 70-year-old administers nightly propofol drips, “an unpredictable and potentially lethal anesthetic,” to treat the 13-time Grammy winner’s insomnia. Prosecutors accused the father of seven of negligence, saying he never used equipment needed to monitor his client’s breathing under heavy anesthesia.
Additionally, the doctor allegedly left the King of Pop’s side several times on the night of his death to “check email and make phone calls.” The Grenadian national was sentenced to four years in prison but served only half the term.
Murray returned to Trinidad and Tobago, where he registered to practice as a qualified doctor. The doctor’s medical license was suspended in Texas, California, and Nevada following a conviction for involuntary manslaughter.

Although the People’s Choice Award winner’s younger sister didn’t caption the post with words, the message was clear, given how happy the sisters looked in the photo. Instead, Tito Jackson wrote a sweet note to his late brother.
