Doja Cat’s Mom Files A Temporary Restraining Order Against Her Brother

Doja Cat was allegedly physically and verbally abused by her brother, according to a new lawsuit filed by her mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer.

The parents recently filed a temporary restraining order against her 30-year-old son, Raman Dalithando Dlamin, whom she accused of harassing her and Doja. The criminal’s crimes are shocking, from pulling out her sister’s teeth to worse injuries.

Deborah named her son in new legal documents, claiming the 30-year-old had assaulted her younger sister multiple times. He claimed he was a threat to Doja, guilty of stealing and destroying the singer’s property.

The filing stated that Raman had caused her cuts and bruises and knocked out her teeth. The abuse she alleged also included verbal degradation, with Deborah writing that he assaulted her “in a very degrading and degrading home. [sic].”

Additionally, legal filings obtained by TMZ shared that Raman’s physical and verbal abuse made Doja feel “insecure and traumatized.” As for his crimes against her well-being, Deborah accused her son of physically abusing and threatening her several times over the past year.

She claims her most recent harassment happened earlier this month, eventually leading her to file for a restraining order. Fortunately, a judge agreed the severity of the situation required temporary protection against Raman until a hearing for a permanent restraining order could take place.

Unfortunately, the legal arbitrator rejected Deborah’s request for Doja’s protection against her brother. Instead, the judge advised the parents to convince their daughter to file a separate request for a restraining order.

His Parents are Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer & Dumisani Dlamini

Due to her growing career, Doja has received significant media attention, but many may need to know that the singer comes from a creative background.

His parents, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer and Dumisani Dlamini, are famous artists.

The Grammy winner’s mother is a painter and fashion designer, while her father is a famous South African actor and a dancer. Dumisani’s most famous work is the 1992 film “Sarafina!” where he starred alongside Hollywood veteran Whoopi Goldberg.

Dumisani and Deborah met in New York while the actress was performing “Sarafina!” on Broadway. The couple had a brief romance in the 90s before breaking up, and their short love gave birth to Doja Cat, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini.

After their breakup, the singer grew up with her mother in New York and California – a childhood she noted was filled with art. Speaking about Deborah’s artistic career in a 2020 interview, Doja Cat said:

“He paints. He used to paint more, but he now designs menswear. He’s more into, like, computer design stuff, like Photoshop and stuff.

The entertainer also noted that his mother placed him in several performing arts schools, saying: “She put me in dance and everything. When it came to school, I was mostly in performing arts, and I would take ballet and stuff like that.

Additionally, he cites the paintings of his mother and grandmother as important influences on his career. “A lot of those things inspired me to, like, take fashion and visual, experimental things, and I thank them for that.” He explained further:

“I think it helped me a lot. They have great taste, they have a good eye, and it led me in the right direction.”
