Domenico Berardi started his football career with Cosenza youth club and continued to play until 2010. He joined the Sassuolo youth team in 2010 and started his career there. On 27 August 2012, he made his senior debut for Sassuolo in Serie B against Cesena at the age of 18. On 1 September 2012, he scored his first professional goal in a 2–1 home win over Crotone.
He made 39 appearances for the club in the 2012–13 season, scoring 11 goals and contributing 6 assists in all competitions as Sassuolo won Serie B and were promoted to Serie A the following season.
