Don Lemon’s partnership deal with Elon Musk’s X platform reportedly fell through due to some strange requests. According to a source familiar with the contract, Lemon wants more than just a partnership with a social media platform, as he wants to have a say in the type of news that appears on X.
He also allegedly demanded that Musk send him into space to record a podcast from there, a free Tesla Cybertruck, and a $5 million advance to bring his show to the platform.

The fired CNN adviser took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that Musk had canceled his deal after the billionaire went back on his “free speech” pledge to him, but apparently that didn’t happen.
According to Daily Mail, a source with knowledge of the deal revealed that Lemon was the one who wanted censorship on the platform and also made some very strange demands from the company.
The source said, “If you look through Don’s requests, they range from extravagant to far-fetched to censorship. Luxury is you asking for a great new car [the Tesla Cybertruck]and you asked for a $5 million down payment.”
“Far-out is one of its claims is to be the first podcast in space,” the source added.
Lemon also allegedly demanded that X commit to a $10 million annual marketing budget and cover the construction costs of his studio.

Papers obtained by the news outlet show that news anchors also want to say about the nature and type of news content shared by the platform and the talent X brings.
The contract states that Lemon must be consulted by X “when making decisions regarding News content on the platform/any policy changes re: content” and that he receives “a percentage of the budget on X’s future spending on original content.”
It also reportedly stated that Lemon will “approve any news/events during talent deals/partnerships in the first year at X.”
“Where it comes down to censorship is that Don wants control and input on every creator that comes to the platform,” the insider shared. “He wants a voice in what kind of news information will be on the platform.”
“Separately, he wants to decide on platform policy,” they continued.
The source explained, “So, they’ve got this claim, and they’re working on it, but nothing’s been signed. Then he sat down with Elon, and Elon was like, ‘I see where you’re going, and I don’t like it.'”
