Just moments after Donald Trump arrived in Manhattan federal court Monday morning to sit in a civil defamation trial against him, Judge Lewis Kaplan canceled the day’s proceedings due to “revelation of COVID.”
Former president and 2024 GOP front-runner Alina Habba’s lawyer – who was not wearing a mask – told the judge that she had dinner with her parents three nights earlier, and they tested positive for the virus.
A jury is set to decide how much damages Trump should pay E. Jean Carroll, after she was found liable for sexual abuse and defamation of the former magazine writer and advice columnist last year.
Carroll is looking for $10 million.
Habba on Monday asked the judge to postpone the hearing until Wednesday, because the former president will not be able to appear on Tuesday because of the New Hampshire presidential primary election.
