Donna D’Errico Reveals Rescue Dog Is Alive After Health Scare

Actress Donna D’Errico had a terrifying ordeal last year when her rescue puppy ruptured her anus during a routine appointment at the groomer.

After a long recovery period, the “Baywatch” star, 54, took to Instagram to assure her followers that Scout is alive and well.

In her latest Instagram post, the “Frank and Penelope” actress snapped a photo of Scout looking cheerful as ever, her long pink tongue sticking out of her mouth as she smiled at the camera. “Look at that face. Happy as it is. To look at him, you would never know his story or what this little guy has been through,” Donna began.

“He was found living on the street with a homeless woman. His teeth were rotting from McDonald’s leftovers and they all had to be pulled. His back right leg is permanently lame, and he is deaf probably because of too many untreated ear infections that permanently damaged his hearing,” he explained. “His nails are badly overgrown and his fur is matted. He attacks anyone who approaches him – typical of badly abused dogs. The wonderful people who rescued her cleaned her up and nursed her back to health, and I was lucky enough to welcome her to live with me. I promised him I would never let anyone hurt him again.”

“A few months ago, I took him to samsgreenpaw to be groomed, and unknowingly, they emptied the dog’s anal pouch as part of their grooming. I only let my vet do that,” he added. “They squeezed her bottom so hard that she broke one of her anal sacs inside without her realizing it, and they sent her home because Scout was in a coma. He ended up in an emergency animal hospital where they saved his life. The owner of Sam’s Greenpaw was informed of everything that was going on and formed a pack of bulls—- to escape responsibility for what they did to Scout.”

“However, Scout is still smiling. Look at him without teeth. He jumps around on three legs, has to eat porridge because he can’t chew, he won’t know his name because he can’t hear me, yet he wakes up every day loving a happy life to live,” he concluded. “Thank you for the lesson, little friend. I love you.”

While some were upset that scouts were irresponsible for nearly causing Scout’s death, many followers were relieved that Scout survived the gruesome ordeal. “Wonderful to hear Scout is still loving life & smiling & thank you. He has come a long way since the excruciating torture of samsgreenpaw. Keep taking care of the puppies,” commented one fan.

“I remember you posting that horrible story and seeing her picture today and actually thinking how amazing she looks now,” another follower wrote. “Thank you so much for rescuing him and giving him a loving home,” a third fan chimed in. Both of me!!” another follower added.

“I am very happy that he is doing better. I saw the original post and was horrified by what happened to him. It’s even worse knowing how bad his life was before and he had to learn to trust people and then be treated that way. I hope he continues to improve. What a treasure and thankful he has you!” other fans shared.

In a separate Instagram post, Donna noted that Scout was not the “first victim” of the nanny. “I found some reviews online. Looks like Scout isn’t the first victim,” she wrote before explaining that the owner of the grooming business began “accusing me of doing this just for money.”

“A true animal advocate will not worry about defending themselves or talking to the vet for an excuse or finding a way out of covering the vet bill when a dog is injured while in your care, or accusing someone of being only about the money when they claim justice,” added Donna. “A true animal advocate and stand-up person will do the right thing immediately.
