A door fell from a small plane as it flew near Buffalo Monday afternoon, officials said.
The plane, which was carrying two people, landed safely at Buffalo Niagara International Airport after the tailgate fell over the suburb of Cheektowaga, officials said.
The plane was in the air for just seven minutes — between 5:39 p.m. and 5:46 p.m. — and turned around to land at the same airport it took off from, according to WKBW.
Cheektowaga police said in a statement that the door was believed to have fallen in the city’s Stiglmeier Park area, but it was not immediately found.
There were no reports of injuries or property damage on the ground, and the cause of the dangerous accident was unclear.
Local officials told The Post Tuesday morning that they were still searching the door as the Federal Aviation Administration led the investigation.
The incident occurred after a door plug broke mid-air during an Alaska Airlines flight on January 5 16,000 feet over Oregon.
