Dozens arrested for breaching Biden’s Delaware campaign HQ as organizer warns ‘young people won’t support’ prez

Nearly two dozen left-wing activists were arrested Monday for storming President Biden’s Delaware campaign headquarters to protest his policies on the climate and the Israel-Hamas war.

“Young people will not support a President who blames climate action and who finances genocide,” Sunrise Movement, the group behind the demonstration, warned in an X post.

The 21 “adult subjects” arrested from about 100 protesters who gathered outside the Biden campaign office will be charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

Those arrested climbed to the eighth floor of the Brandywine Building in downtown Wilmington, which houses the 81-year-old president’s re-election campaign headquarters, and refused police orders to leave.

Protesters continued to wave signs reading, “Climate funds, not genocide” after the arrest of those who “sit-in” at the Biden campaign operations center.

“Young people are sitting down because Biden needs to lead and deliver, or he will lose,” read tweets from the Movement of the Rising Sun.

The group also accused the president of “going back on his campaign promise not to drill on public lands” for approving ConocoPhillips’ $8 billion Willow Project.

The energy giant claims the massive Alaskan oil and gas extraction project could produce up to 180,000 barrels of oil a day and create as many as 1,800 jobs during construction and 300 long-term jobs while generating billions of dollars in royalties and tax revenue for Alaska and the federal government.

“Biden cannot build renewable energy on Monday, build fossil fuels on Tuesday, and then claim to be climate president,” the Sunrise Movement argued. “That’s not how science works, and young voters know it.”

Biden campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt defended the president’s climate handling, arguing that Biden “guaranteed the largest single climate investment in history, which puts the US on a path to cut climate pollution in half by 2030.

“President Biden is working hard to get the job done, while Donald Trump has promised to undo all the progress we’ve made,” Hitt told The Post. “As president, Trump called climate change a ‘hoax’ and slashed critical environmental protections.”

Regarding the Israel-Hamas war, Hitt referred to Biden’s remarks during a February 8 press briefing, in which he stated that Israel’s response in Gaza “has gone too far.”

Last month, the USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll showed Biden gaining support from young voters, a traditionally strong Democratic voting bloc.

More voters under 35 support former President Donald Trump than Biden – 37% to 33% – the poll found.

Biden won the demographic in the 2020 election by 24 points over Trump.
